If its so cheap, then why arent we seeing more big titles on PS4 and XB1? Looks like third parties are only bringing their most profitable games. And if they try something cheaper, it usually dont do well.

Things would just be more expensive for Nintendo fans if MS gets like Donkey Kong exclusive and Sony gets Kirby exclusive. Console exclusive characters in Smash Bros and stuff like that. I just prefer to have all the content on one console.

We're seeing a lot more titles on those two than the WiiU, let me tell you that much.....Yes, 3rd parties only bring their most profitable games....because of the high risk involved now. So tell me, what makes you think they'll RISK going with a Nintendo platform that will have a lower userbase than the other two , underpowered and on a different architecture? They are fighting a losing battle here. The more that general development costs escalate, the more compaies wont take the risk and stick with the consoles with the biggest userbase and easiest architecture.

First thing I'd do about that is not fall for slippery slope arguments and pressure Nintendo to not deal with exclusives. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Well we dont know if the Switch will have a lower userbase for long. It might be a hit.

I just dont see how Nintendo games will suddenly sell millions more from being on the PS4 and XB1. The people who love these franchises will get a Nintendo console sooner or later. Nintendo would need to sell more on the other consoles since Sony and MS would take a cut of the profit. You really think Nintendo would have as much money if they went third party after the GC? No, the DS and Wii made a fortune.

Now Nintendo has combined their handheld and consoles. If the Switch fails, then I agree that they need to look at other options.

Nobody knows that. I just go with what's out there currently. So far, not much 3rd party support. It's feeling eerily similar to the WiiU. I mean, it's not like the NX has only just been realised by developers.....it's been in development for some time....and they end up with a handful of 3rd party titles...

I have already mentioned how in my numberous other replies. Say that a person likes Zelda, but no other Nintendo franchise. Do you think they'll buy a new console just for Zelda? How about Mario? Pokemon? All of these receive 1-3 titles at most for a console. A lot of those are in greener pastures, with the other consoles.

I already discussed statistically that in a userbase 5 times greater, it's not out of the question that software sales can double. I have mentioned that doubling software sales (Nintendo's biggest profit centre) would easily constitute any loss from other markets, as well as licensing costs with ease.

You can't say that Nintendo should sticks to their guns in case another Wii comes around the corner. Those days have been and gone, and unless they're going to demo something VERY revolutionary, the Switch is not that saviour.

This is the first time in this new generation with the PS4 and X1 that I´m actually excited with a new release. The Switch feels unique, with it´s own personality. PS4 and X1 are basically interchangeable when it comes to hardware and most games. With the Switch I get something special and that is what every generation should be about. I´m actually not complaining about PS4/X1 because I love games for those systems, they just don´t invoke a sense of something new and exciting for me.

Also, the Switch´s PORTABILITY is one of its greatest features since we haven´t had a home console with this kind of versatility from the big developers before. This, together with the Joy-Cons make it strangely appealing. It does have some drawbacks but overall The big N has done a commendable job.

Im not saying they should expect another Wii hit, but I dont want them to give up after one failed console.

If you like a franchise, then you have to buy the console its on. If you dont want to buy the console, then its obvious that you dont really mind not playing the game. Thats just how it works. I would love to play a few Vita titles, but I dont think the system is worth it for me, so I must either live without them or buy the Vita later or used for cheap. Im fine with that.

Would you be happy if the Switch got the same attention that the WiiU got?

Nintendo's console time has come to an end. Third-party would be the best thing for Nintendo now.
Pokemon Go and Super Mario Run were the first steps for this.

Let's get one thing straight mobile is not remotely the same as putting games on consoles! If everything sold so well on PS4 and XbOne studio's wouldn't keep getting shut down or games cancelled. These guys keep making these big block buster movie games that need to sell 10 million copies and only get so many hours of gameplay out of them. How do people feel that this is the future of gaming?

That's how it works, but it really doesn't have to. Nintendo are losing potential software sales because of it. It would only be smart if Nintendo had a good handful of 3rd parties in their pocket like the early days, but that's no longer the case.

Don't agree at all. I like that Nintendo offer a unique gaming experience to xbox answer playstation. I just buy both.

Keep in mind that not everyone has the income to afford both. This is what the topic is about...potential sales base, not whether it's buyable or what.

I'll tell a little anecdote here. It actually involves meeting an old firend I used to play SNES and N64 with as a teen. She was a mad Nintendo fan too. It was last December. She was looking to buy a first console for her kids and went with a PS4. Of course this shocked me a little, but I was also intrigued. I did bring up the past, about how we were big on Nintendo back then. I asked why the decision. Her response was something I never took into account....Nintendo's existing library barely depreciates in value, and she can't afford the games, even if they're years old.

I saw her point, as at the very same store, we checked out 3 titles around $20 on the Xbox one (which helped in my decision to get one), whereas Nintendo's cheapest title was Twilight Princess....in 2016...for the Wii...for AU$50. Even the remake on the WiiU was only AU$20 more!

That's where I realised that people struggling on low incomes actually DO get turned away by Nintendo's offerings due to the high software price.

i cant afford a Porche doesnt meen Porche shoud start making engines for Ford now does it? plenty off people can afford more than one console. In my house alone we have one laptop, one samsung tablet, 2 IPADS, 1 ps4, 1 Wii u, 1 xbox one. thats split between 3 of us who are game. OH yeah my wifes got a 3ds too
