Online subscription

  • The free game a month is exactly like PS+. As long as you download within that free month it’s yours to keep as long as you’re subscribed.
  • The free download a month is chosen by Nintendo because if they offered all VC games with online the player base would be split and you’d never find enough people for a match. Whereas with this method, everyone who’s downloading the game is part of the same player pool.

Lol, what? It's an NES/SNES game, there's no online play on NES/SNES games.

there is now, that was one of the things announced at the conference, NES/SNES that are given out with the online subscription will have online play.

They could add, which wouldnt really make it a "port".A game like secret of mana could use it, or maybe Mario with co-op.Personally I dont care.Would prefer if they gave more games.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Well, from previous and new information about subscription VC games, we still have some different interpretations:

1-You can download the game only in the month, but once downloaded and subscribed, you can play it.
2-the game is your to download whenever you want(while subscribed), but the online play for that game is only available in that month.
3-Download and online forever, while subscribed.

which one?

Things like offering a game for free and such would be something a developer would be told about as they need to know how they're going to get paid of the downloads of their games, it's part of business between companies and studios, her words hold a lot more weight than Polygon who have had an agenda since their infamous MK8 prediction that blew up in their faces.

it's their virtual console licensing, that has nothing to do with third party developers.

Actually it does.

Nintendo pays a license to put games on VC but Nintendo has to approach publishers and choose which games go on VC. So anytime you complain about a certain Sega or Konami game not on VC it's not Konami or Sega's fault, it's because Nintendo didn't pick that certain game to be on the platform.

Nintendo has to approach companies about their games and negotiate, information no doubt would be exchanged on how the system generally.

Nintendo Swich Dock

  • It’s not just a passthrough. You won’t see third-party docks. It has proprietary technology. Not just an empty shell that charges and passthrough hdmi. That’s why it’s expensive.
  • It has to read that the switch is docked, switch the signal to hdmi (since the switch doesn’t have a hdmi port on the unit itself) and then hdmi to TV.

Wouldnt be much easier if the tablet had a mini USB port? The dock would be cheaper for nintendo to manufacture, and the price of switch would be lower(so, more sales, leading to more software sales, and more profit)

Also, didn't Nintendo already confirm that the game wasn't permanently yours to keep, only available to play during the 1 month?

NES and SNES games are having online added.

PS+ thing is incorrect. It used to be that way, but Sony changed it a while back and now you permanently keep the games.

And how many games does 4cornergames have available on virtual console? clue: zero, it was founded in 2010 and the company hasn't actually released a full game yet.

So please, tell me why one of their developers would know nintendo licensing information for virtual console when they don't even have a game available yet, let alone one that would be put on virtual console.

Nintendo talks to the license holders for the retro games they wish to re-release on virtual console, when the publisher/developer of that game isn't Nintendo themselves - This is between nintendo and publishers/developers of past-gen titles, it has nothing to do with modern games, nothing to do with indies, and would not be brought up with indies because there is *NO POINT* in doing so.

Especially when the only game theyre even working on looks like this:

But hey, you'll see for yourself in 2 months that her guess was wrong, so defend it all you want.

This seems like an awful lot of information for a small Western dev to have.

Like why would Nintendo disclose Wii U controller and manufacturing costs to a relatively no-name studio like this that isn't even a Japanese studio?

Awesome, and yeah a developer it's more reliable than a playstation magazine with an agenda.

34 years playing games.
