Forums - Nintendo - Zelda BOTW is 900p Docked, 720p Undocked (Switch)

Good for people with tiny screens.

It's a portable console so I am fine with it.

900p is good right? That's what most Xbox one games run on

Most Xbox games are going for realistic graphics with solid FX, not cartoon cell shaded style.
It is what it is, but if Nintendo games are running at 900p, that tells us what to expect of ports.
Maybe 720p docked, sub-720p upscale portable if they can even manage it.
Personally I never cared about the ports, but ridiculous that 1st party Zelda can't manage 1080p.
It's not even pushing FX that Wii U can't handle, it should be straightforward to manage.
But this is what you get when Nintendo refuses to use even a modern fab like 14nm, nothing fancy.

good thing is that cel shaded games look better at a lower resolution than realistic games

I still play 360 and PS3 games, so fine with me.

This was Nintendo's truly first huge HD game. I think they've done an amazing job getting it to run on a system like the switch. These are decent resolutions. I'm more worried about frame rate than anything at this point.

And it's 2017 and the industry already has moved on towards higher resolutions.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

It's a console in handheld form, so this level of performance is expected if a reasonable price point is also expected. Can't have the best of both worlds, anywhere, period. Also, Super Mario 3D World was 720p but yet it blew away most AAA games in terms of visuals, because of its art style.

720 undocked? Holy shit that must looks sharp and clear as fuck for a handheld game, specially for one as huge as this one this is an amazing achievement, but of course people will cry because is not 1080p instead of looking the other side, as usual.

Well a good chunk of xb1 and ps4 games run sub 1080p with dynamic resolutions. Still a worrying sign for a new platform though.
