Why would you expect a thirty something year old man to know anything about the trans community even if they're into politics? They keep changing what's not offensive and what is so much unless you're a part of that community or make it a point to keep tabs, you won't know.

I'd expect someone who's investing so much time into specific subjects to hold a basic understanding of said subjects.

That's unreasonable. That particular story about Wil Wheaton was making the rounds. recently because it's funny. Anyone paying attention to conservative or centrist news circles, youtubers, pundits would have come across that story. I don't know if you know this but conservatives don't pay much attention to what offends trans people. On average, they're not tuned into that community unless they come across someone like Blaire White

Politics is too deep to know it all well enough. There's gonna be gaps in someone's knowledge of it especially if they partition themselves just to a certain area which is something everyone does.

It's far from unreasonable. If he's going to put so much time into spreading an agenda, he should know better.

It's not at all surprising to read that a lot of conservatives are incredibly ignorant.

Let's go ahead and put a stop under this, because I can see where this is headed between you guys.

And I assure you Carl, there are no more or less ignorant people among conservatives than other groups. The only thing that varies is what they're ignorant about. People have plenty of ignorance to go around.

In any case, if you two want to continue this discussion, you'll do it privately. CGI has addressed the issue, and how we'll handle use of the word tranny moving forward, and that's that. As far as we're concerned, this is settled. Whether we'll continue to allow certain individuals to continue creating political threads is still under review, and we'll be monitoring the situation to determine the best way to proceed.

I would like to bring to attention a ban that I find hard to swallow.

Vivster has recently been banned for this post.

In the ban note it states: "While it is fine to disagree with someone and their political ideology, it is not fine however to outright call someone else a member of the KKK and flame them."

However, if you read the very comment, it is clear that Vivster is not calling the member a participant in the KKK, but rather the mirror. Look, it says right there: "  the mirror is so far to the right that it already jumped out of your apartment and joined the KKK "

For this reason I feel this ban note does not hold up under scrutiny.

I agree with this. It wasn't really meant to be a direct insult or suggestion. Rather, it was a broad statement in which the mirror is kind of regarded as the political spectrum/climate.

It's a good thing you stepped in because he was taking it personally and starting to resort to...

If you guys are gonna start banning certain people from making political threads, it should apply universally to any user who fits the criteria regardless of frequency of reports or users complaining here or through PMs so we're not capitulating to who are the offended the most.

3 days isn't a permaban! Oh well, I guess the 5th September will be the day the Official VGC Porn Thread goes live. See you then!

Yes, I suppose an incredibly minor warning for generalizing gives you free reign to act like a child, but sure enjoy the extended ban for ban-dodging with an alt.

!
I don't know what's going on with ka-pi, but hope it blows over. Maybe he took my advice and watched The Revenant. I seriously wish we could post on banned members walls again.

- Well, I went down to the crime lab, pieced it together, and broke the case wide open.
