Forums - Gaming - Is Splinter Cell done?

So the last Splinter Cell game supposedly failed to meet Ubisoft's expectations and that was released over 3 years ago to a combined userbase of well over 160 million. The original Splinter Cell trilogy was amazing in terms of stealth mechanics. Will we ever see Splinter Cell again or is the franchise truly done? What could they do with the franchise to innovate the genre? What would you like to see? Is the stealth genre essentially done?

Maybe it will return at some point

I thought Ghost Recon was dead but that's coming back now

Be funny if they somehow made it open world too

Probably be a new one announced this year

New splinter cell was confirmed back in August with Michael ironside returning as the voice according to a source on neogaf. Perhaps we'll hear more about it at E3 this year if it's real. Would be nice to play it again.

eh Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon don't sell that much either and they all got another sequel, so I don't think it's done.
It's true though, I loved Splinter Cell Conviction but barely played Blacklist. I hope it will find its way onto X1 via BC one day. (Maybe even with GwG!)

Maybe if they would just make a game like the first two or three in the series and stop trying to reinvent something that didn't need reinventing... sure.

The last one was my first of the series and I loved it. Wish they would make another but it looks dead.

I doubt it.

Blacklist was great, they should have released it for X1 and PS4 at launch, would have done well.

Rainbow 6 and Ghost Recon are still happening so Splinter Cell should happen eventually. As for now, I'd like to see a remaster of the last two games on 8th gen consoles.

The series declined sticking to the original formula so they moved to a more action focused cover shooter/stealth game. Quite frankly, Conviction and Blacklist were great.

I think the timing for Blacklist was bad and as I said before it should have gotten an 8th gen version. I will gladly revisit them if they come to X1 BC.
