ujmm it is good that switch owners are gonna get the game day one but at the same time, if ps4 and xb1 owners have been getting bad optimized games from ubisoft, I can't imagine how the game will run on switch considering ps4 and xb1 are probably gonna be stronger than switch.
I played the hell out of ACIV on the WiiU. And loved it - even if it had some frame dips and lacked DLC. Truth be told - it was a no more jagged experience than what you'd get on AC Unity or many other open world games on PS/Xbox.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the series make its re-entry on the Switch. ACIV looked phenomenal on WiiU gamepad - can't wait to see another HD handheld AC!
I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
Good news I say, more games for the system.
@bananaking 21 , why are u always negative towards any game that comes out for anything than your sony systems?
GAMERTAG IS ANIMEHEAVEN X23
PSN ID IS : ANIMEREALM

ALL-TIME FAVORITE JRPG IS : LOST ODYSSEY
Well I guess one way to do it is to start by axing the resolution for the portable version down to 640x480 resolution.
That would be 1/6.75th the resolution of 1080p. Then you reduce some other assets, downgrade a few other things, cut out anti-aliasing ... and yeah ... you should have something that can run at 25-30 fps in a 160 GFLOP undocked state.
EDIT: Ubi Soft is having problems getting AC to run at 900p at 30 fps on the PS4 ... yeah, the Switch version will likely be quite ugly/scaled back in that regard.

Why exclude Switch? Ubisoft should just make Assassin's Creed PC exclusive because you know, PS4/One are holding it back :)

That is somewhat unfair, don't you think? By the same logic, you could say all studios should focus on developing for the PC, and PC alone, so they can all get rid of console restrictions. The more games we all get, the better. It is pointless and unproductive trying to get games to not come out to other platforms. |
My point is that PS4 and Xbox One is the main place for most fans of the series to play AC games. Let's just say around 80% of the fans play the AC games on PS4/Xbox One, 18% on PC and 2% on Switch (seems like a realistic scenario for me). Would it make sense for Ubisoft to downgrade the new AC game only for the 2% who play the game on the Switch? This would hurt the sales from the other 98% which is the majority of the AC fans. So it wouldn't be a good financial strategy from Ubisoft.
Same thing doesn't work with PC exclusive, PC is not the main place for most gamers (only 18%) and 82% of potential consumers would be gone with PC exclusive. Ubisoft should focus on PS4 and Xbox One because that's where they have their biggest target audience imo.
My point was not that I don't want this game on Nintendo Switch, my point is that Ubisoft should try to make a game as good as possible wich shouldn't be restricted by platforms which are not powerful enough. An PC exclusive AC game would would most likely underperform for Ubisoft, so PC/PS4/One should be the target for the next AC game.

And lose out on 60%-70% of its market? At least try and be logical when giving a counter arguement. The concept of a game being held back in its scope and scale because it's releasing on a console that's its weaker 8 and 12 as the other consoles is a valid concern.
This isn't about what platform it's on. You don't see me bitching that it's coming to Xbox one pc. If the switch has decent hardware then I wouldn't give a flying fuck if it came to it or not. But since the leaks suggest it's rather weak, I don't want the game to be held back because of it

And who are you to judge my behaviour?
Ohh right.. you are the guy who acted as a PS fanboy, lied about having a studio and making PS exclusives to try gain attention, then ran away for a while whern People caught on to your shit.
So yes, sure, you are the perfect guy to judge me. Please, go ahead

Let's hope that the Switch can justify Ubisofts's unwavering confidence in it. Personally, I am surprised to hear that the Switch will be getting any AAA ports at launch given it's rumored hardware limitations. This is giving me hope for at least one of the following to happen:
1) The rumors about the Switch's low graphical capabilities are incorrect and the Switch is faster then expected.
2) Ubisoft has reason to believe that the Switch has some innovative capabilities that could make it into a Wii-like success in spite of its poor hardware, making it worthwhile to butcher their games graphically just to have them on the platform.
I just don't see Ubisoft going in blind into this after the flop that was the Wii U. It made sense for Ubisoft to have confidence in Nintendo going into the Wii U, but this time they should be a lot more cautious about trusting Nintendo especially if they're going with severely under-powered hardware again. It makes me think that Ubisoft might know something that we don't.
