Playing the OG Halo on 2x Original Xbox's in my room as a teen, 2 Giant ass CRT TV's back to back playing 8 player Team Slayer, that was proper multiplayer gaming. This online shite will never remotely hold a candle to that multiplayer, could be 64v64, 128v128, billion v billion, Still not the same as the howling laughter inside the same room gunning the shit out of each other as 2 teams.

Damn right; online multiplayer can never match playing with a room full of friends.

I'm sad about the fact that the major issue back in the day was obviously the setup costs for a teenager to get all the equipment and a crossover cable to link the 2 systems even was a rarity at the time, but now that I've got my own place and a ton of spare cash I'm saddened that all I can do now to increase my enjoyment of multiplayer for the most part is either pay for bus fares to tournements or else buy a better headset for online play, rather than create that back to back setup again today but would be so much easier with LCD TV's being flat and costing less than half of what my 32" Phillips CRT did back in the day.

Easily getting introduced to games like Gears, Halo, Alan Wake, CoD, Lost Odyssey. Having the best controller that gen, just fit so comfortably. Also Xbox Live, such a great stable and reliable network that kept improving and adding features.

And as a bonus seeing the reactions of people who thought the console would be DOA due to brand popularity.

Are you talking about the OG Xbox?

Since that is where people would have been introduced to some of the games you list here as well as the birth place of Xbox Live online network, but it most certainly would not have been the place which had the best controller that generation, it would have been a distant 3rd with the OG Duke compared to the PS2's Dual Shock and the GC pad.

Xbox 360! I should have clarrified, I never owned an OG.

Where to begin???

Best campaign experiences - Gears of War, Boshock and Mass Effect
Best racing experience - PGR3 and Forza Horizon
Best MP - Halo 3 and Gears of War 3
Even best JRPG - Lost Odyssey
Best controller
Best online
Best marketplace

I was gonna buy an Xbox360. Then I didnt. And I used to money to buy Ni No Kuni for PS3. Best deicision I made that day.

Well, at least you tried. More than I can say about a lot of people here.

So many.

-First online game I ever played (Burnout Revenge) which meant first voice chat, video chat, etc.

-First DLC (free Kameo skins!)

-My induction to HD era

-My first Achievement (again, Kameo)

-My first downloadable game (Geometry Wars)

-First time I used Netflix

-Teaching my kid to use a controller with Feeding Frenzy (we saw it on BC tonight and I reminded her where her gaming career began--she's getting her first console on Christmas after a decade of bumming off of mine)

-Planning my whole day around being home to play 1vs100 with the rest of the community

But my fondest memory was Gears 2 horde mode when everybody was dead except for me. The other players were cheering me on and I got us to the next levek....Where we all died. But for that brief moment, I was a hero!

Playing Halo 2 with my Dad.

Some of my best gaming years spent on Xbox. Some of the best multiplayer and singleplayer I have ever played.

Halo 2- local multiplayer/ xbox live, Best FPS/ multiplayer
Mechassault- xbox live MECHS!
TES Morrowind- Best fantasy RPG
SWKOTR - Best scifi
Kingdom Under Fire- Dynasty Warriors+ Strategy in LOTR world!
Fable
Blinx

Even mediocre games with friends were quite fun like DnD and Digimon World 4. Too bad very few games support 4 players now, and most have bad functionality. Also downloaded all my CDs onto the Xbox and often just jammed to music.

Playing Fable 2 almost nonstop for weeks straight. Sometimes not even turning off the 360. Then came the moment where I felt accomplishment. The DVD drive laser burned out. The game was sooooo gooood that I broke the 360. Such a good feeling. Not the RROD that I was hoping for, but good enough. 🙄

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

Playing Gears of War on my brand new 52" 1080p tv, there could not have been a better release to coincide with that. Other high points include Fable, Jade Empire, PGR, Dead rising, TDU, Viva Pinata, Mass Effect, Alan wake plus some great 3D platformers I can't remember the name of.

Has to be the original Halo on OG Xbox. My brother and I played through it co-operatively. We pretty much bought the console for that game.
