If Pachter says, then it's wrong.
I'm expecting no less than $499

If an X1 S can be $249 than Scorpio can be $399.
The biggest improvement is GPU power.

Considering how little impact the PS4 Pro has had so far I think Microsoft should realy aim for the premium market.
A beastly machine at $499 could push a lot of harcore gamers that dismissed the PS4 Pro.
And going for his other points. Well, since the Kinect was dished MS has always pushed for price advantage over the PS4. I don´t think Sony can undercut Microsoft that easily.
I've always thought it would be $399.99.
It's 4 years after the PS4 ... why wouldn't dramatically better chips be available? That's almost the typical 5 year full cycle for a system upgrade.
Like the Dreamcast came out in 1999 for $199.99, which was the same price as the N64 launched at three years prior, but the Dreamcast was waaaaaay more powerful.
4 years is a long time in tech cycles guys, the chips you can get for the same cost 4 years later is night and day.
I've expected 399 since they announced it. This console isn't going to be as powerful as people think, 40% more than PS4 Pro isn't going to be a huge leap, after all thats very similar to the difference between XB1 and PS4 and they were very close in price and capability.
Even the Pro is only 100 more than a regular PS4 and the difference in flops is far larger. Microsoft would never consider something over 499 and considering this wont have a kinect bundled it'll be 399-449.
Pachter is right this time, but he usually is with the incredibly obvious.
Hard to believe they won't be taking a bit of a loss at that price.
Has MS made profit overall this gen, or do they not give that info out anymore?
It wouldn't surprise me if they did. They'll sell it at a massive loss if they think they can gain market share back with it. MS's ultimate goal is to put the squeeze on the competition first, then make money later.

That's quite a lot of money for watching only 4k blu-rays, since nearly all the xclusive games on Xbox are on PC. Do u have a PS4 or PS4 Pro yet? |
I have a regular PS4 only, I'd get the Scorpio for games as well, like Forza Horizon and a bunch of 360 games I never played (digital versions probably). Hopefully, by the time they release Scorpio, there will be more good games and more proper controllers to choose from.
I'm not buying both a PS4 Pro and a Scorpio though, everything depends on whether or not Sony add 4k blu-ray funcionality to the Pro next year.
holiday 2017 (USD for sale vs reg pricing)
NS 199 to 249
XBOs 229 to 279
PS4s 229 to 279
PS4p 329 to 379
XBOp 349 to 399
That is the pricing I'd predict. MS won't be afraid to be slightly more expensive as they'll push that it can do more, that it can have 4K TV/Games etc where as PS4pro cannot.
I wonder if Sony will release an updated PS4 pro to beat the Scorpio in terms of hardware power.
