Forums - Microsoft - Xbox Live (on Xbox One) Requiring Payment Info?

The reason for it is because it's an Xbox 360 game.
Everything on Xbox Live! for the Xbox 360 was required to go through Microsofts payment portal, the transaction is then tied to your account, forever.

If it was a free Xbox One game, you wouldn't need to input any payment details, it is also why you can continue to *keep* your Xbox 360 games when your Gold expires, but not your Xbox One games through Games with Gold.

At this point, the OP says he doesn't want an Xbox One anymore. We're not going to change his mind.

Do you have Gold? If not, just wait until it starts prompting you to sign up when you start a game...

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I'm on the store, alright? Thought I'd get Lost odyssey since it's free and(apparently) a good game.

NOPE. Microsoft just gives me a big, "FUCK YOU" and forces me to either use credit card or paypal. If I'm not even willing to put my address/real name online, what makes them think I'd even use my credit card?

It is not a free game per se, it ain't freeware.

It is a temporary offer (100% price reduction) for XBL users and of course Microsoft has the right to bind some conditions to that offer.

You are free to decide to accept or deny that offer under these conditions, nobody is forcing you to do anything.

Of course not. I still like the console a lot(the OS is amazing).

Just felt a bit irked by this. Then again, I exaggerated for the sake of enjoying it,

So essentially they're doing it for safety reasons?

I always thought that it would be considered 'free'. Never thought of it as a price reduction.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Click on it, and see a message. "Please add a valid payment instrument". Perhaps they just needed my info?

I go online, type everything in, and see that I have to link a PayPal or credit card. I rarely use my credit card, and don't have paypal, so I thought I could just skip and use an xbox prepaid card or something.

Heck, why is this even a thing? This is probably the dumbest feature I've ever heard. This shit is why I get pissed at Microsoft so often. You don't see PSN or the Eshop going around forcing you to put credit information.

*grabs pitchforks and returns to hating microsoft*

The only way how I got passed this was to buy just the first disc of the LO game (and I got it pretty cheap 2nd hand) and it downloaded without any cc details being added.
