Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is Switch's processing power important to you?

Is it?

Very, I won't buy it if it's weak 171 25.26%

Moderately so 281 41.51%

Not really 127 18.76%

No, power doesn't matter to me 63 9.31%

No, cos I'm not buying one 35 5.17%

Total:677

Nope, I prefer it to be cheap, and I'll be happy with a bit more powerful WiiU. What I want is no droughts and quality first party games.

Where 's the "I hate it but still will be forced to buy" poll option?

Power is important for developers, not for consumers. Developers are what make a game run like shit, not the power. The Switch can do every game 1080p60 locked easily. The problem is developers don't want to do that, they don't want to make their games look like shit. So once again performance will lose against graphics. And if performance loses, gamers lose.

That option isn't there cause that's never gonna be the case.  Unless the Regginator is going to kick down your door.  "Pretty nice home you got here.  Be a shame if anything happened to it.  You want to buy a Nintendo Switch, right?"

Reggie has my other cat. Preorder is already placed.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Do I care about power, at the end of the day no. It's nice, it opens doors to developers, but I think amazing games both in gameplay and visuals can be made on "weak" hardware.

What does matter to me is value, and sure it's too early to tell right now, but so far what I know about the Switch (beyond potentials or eventuallies) is that it lacks that.

Third party games will be trash on Switch? Some third parties are making Switch exclusive games right now. Mario x Rabbids anyone? As far as the Switch being the first true hybrid gaming system that means yes, it has a screen and battery. For the cost of one system you are getting two, a decent powered home console and a crazy powered portable. Having multiple controller options is a huge plus. Having so many Wii U ports is just smart business sense on Nintendo's part because very few people played those games. Maybe when Nintendo has their full reveal you will change your mind.

Dodging the point. Exclusives of course will be fine, but multiplats are gonna be trash.

Next point, you aren't really getting two consoles in one, you're getting a powerful handheld that can connect to a tv, and in turn the people who simply wanted a stronger home console now not only have to deal with a slightly more power Wii U for 5 years, and have to pay for pieces of a console that weren't wanted. Beyond that stating it's a decent powered home console is off mark.

Having multiple controller options is good. Every console ever has had multiple controller options. It's having a bad in box controller that sucks, and even if you hated the wii u controller, this is the same controller out the box, but smaller grips and a bad d pad. It took something people didn't like and made it far worse. The buttons being directly above/below the analog sticks also screams bad design.

Last, having wii u ports may be a smart move.... We'll see, but it also gives me no incentive to buy.

Well, I suggest you don't buy one then. I personally and millions of other people will buy the Switch and will love it. Also I have a PS4 for the multi platform games as do others. The Switch will be for Nintendo's first and second party exclusives.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!

...

The Switch actually seems to have more power than the Xbox One you know?

I agree. I don't want the Switch, but I do want the games on it. If I want to play Xenoblade, I am forced to buy a Switch.

Not really.  There are rumors that place it's power all over the place.  Some of the rumors put it above the XBox One, but those are unlikely.

We are getting to the point where every platform available will provide great looking games no matter what the processing power is. But this generation moreover is obsessed with the technical aspects of games more so than the games themselves! When gamers know more about the game engine of a game versus the story, game play or characters in the game, then something is wrong...

I hear lots of great songs on the radio from time to time, but I don't sit and fantasize about what audio equipment and what vocal booths it was created in.

If it were that easy.... *sigh*
