Forums - Gaming Discussion - FFXV ships 5 million worldwide

This number includes the PS4 limited bundle. I think 2m worldwide sold through first week is possible. 3m+ by the end of the year considering the holiday season.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

Do you have a source?

I only found this which says that "Final Fantasy XIII has sold over one million copies in the first five days following the game’s release." talking about the worldwide release excluding Japan.

I do.

And many more. I literally just googled `ff13 ships 5 million` to see when it shipped a comparable number and there`s a tonne of articles dated the 10th March, the day after the worldwide release.

Thanks.

So 2M in Japan and 3M for the rest of the world for XIII. XV will not ship that number in Japan even after 3 months. So its initial shipment outside of Japan must be considerably bigger. Good to know.

Bravely Default, Dragon Quest, I am Setsuna.

It's not like they aren't making them at all.

But if you really think Pokemon is a good indicator for potential buyers of a turn based RPG in a different franchise on a completely different console aimed at different markets than you need to stop letting your bias get in the way.

My point is, better worded, that Pokemon was always a turn-based games franchise, and it was always sucessful for years. SE decided to ditch the turn-based aspect from FF games, for no reason imho. It was doing pretty well.

I also don't like that they did, but considering WRPG were selling a lot better than JRPG on last gen I can understand they doing it. Pokemon didn't sold because of turnbased

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

SE has currently claimed FF15 as the fastest selling Final Fantasy in series.

LOL

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Well I think they shipped many before launch, concidering it was sold in over 10 stores in my country and it was sold even earlier in others, this games day 1 sale should be strong since it was litterally available in online stores 7 days before official release xD

Yeah outside of japan the series has definitely grown a lot in popularity. Great decision to go after that market as Japan has stagnated.

That is pretty impressive, even with the nay saying out of the way with, Square can't be upset with these numbers on launch. Here's hoping that people retain their copies for a while and don't start to feed them into the preowned market because for a single player game like this it would cut the legs right out from under it.

Great stuff though, hopefully they put some of this FF$ into the remake of 7, that's the one I'm waiting on myself.
