Going from +90 to +80 is a fall indeed, but you make it sound like anything below 90 is a trash bin.

6/10

7th generation reviews were skewed, and I am not saying that to defend FF15, but it was noticeable to me that games were getting free passes left and right, including FF13, you said so yourself.
A lot of people say reviewers have gotten "tough". They are not actually tough, they are "tougher" than they were last gen and that's it.
As for Final Fantasy, it's definitely not what it used to be. I don't follow the insides of SE closely but it seems me that lousy choices led to the messes that were FF14 & FFversus. FF14 is an excellent game now but why wasn't it from the start? Releasing a broken game then fixing it by changing directors is worse than building a project from scartch with a clear vision. It's almost unquestionable that Nomura's Versus baggage weighed down Tabata's vision for FF15. Tabata's not even done working on his game yet, the nature of these promised free future updates is unprecedented in this industry. Admirable efforts, but it also supports my point, making broken things then fixing them is a time sink.
I guess what I want to say is that I can't wait for Final Fantasy 16, a fresh start with a clear vision, a game free from the 7th generation baggage that weighed down all of the "HD" Final Fantasy games. FF13 is history thankfully, FF14 is a money maker now, and FF15 made it to the other side in a good shape, finally.
That fresh start is definitely not FF7r though..

See reviews like that should not be included in metrics intended to guage an items quality. That's an ideological review, not a product review. Assuming the whole review is like that.
And also,,who gives a crap about the gender or race of the lead cast if their struggles and development are focused on thigns common to all? Camaraderie and brotherhood are things common to all, no? Or are we saying women don't experience those things?

Balances out the perfect scores the game got, it's all good. One point higher or one point lower, not a big deal either way.

Theres so many more 80 plus now its actually impressive how many great ones are on that 80+ list Deux ex , TombRaider , DragonQuest, TheLastGuardian and thats naming a few of soo many its soo rare now to get a 90 plus game in the yearly ps3 days we got 90´s for days xD
Finished it. I don't think it's particulary bad, but definitely not great imho. It has some neat exploration, gameplay is kind of decent, and main characters are likable. Also, it's graphically impressive with tons of eye-popping moments. But, story is laughably bad because of bad storytelling. I'm glad that SE noticed that and want to patch it. Story is totally non-sense in the second half. I see some good concepts in the plot, but really badly done. I think it definitely needed more... parts. It's way too rushed in the end, and it's really frustrating. Side quests are repetitive and add almost anything to the world. It's just the best way of farming experience and... that's it. I don't know how the game would have become with Nomura. But with Tabata is, imo, a mixed bag.
Final Fantasy is still, imo, a shadow of its former self. There were times when FF games were always gonna be the best JRPG of the year. Always. I can name some low-profile RPGs this year which put this game to shame. And that's a pity, because I definitely see potential. Which was totally crushed by some questionable game design decisions and plain bad storytelling.
In Chapter 9 and I am losing interest. This Stadium thing just to get a part for the car is far beyond tedious. Leveling up in in Quest 64 is less tedious. I know they are different but XCX is such a better game and still my GOTG.

The line was taken from one paragraph that wandered away from the other paragraphs that were about the quality of the game. It's definitely not representative of the whole review.
