Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo doesn't need to make new IP's, they need to manage their current ones

Very well said, I totally agree. There's so much ground that needs to be (and can be) covered with Nintendo's IP. I think Switch will hopefully remedy this. They could even bring back Takamaru and do something amazing with it. There were a ton of Nintendo games made on Gameboy that were "one and done" as well. Including the Zelda: A Link to the past predecessor, Mole Mania, etc. Nintendo could put together small teams to work on budget title games as well. I hope this is what they're trying to achieve with Switch. Half AAA development and half smaller games that focus on other lesser known ip.

if that's the case, Shin'en should get it together and make another game :P

They're just porting Art of Balance to ps4 atm...

After that they'll probably (and hopefully imo) port Fast Racing Neo to Switch and/or PS4. It's such a great game but I would like it if I could play it on something other than the WiiU.

Art of Balance launched on PS4 back in June. Given their past patterns, (releasing their Wii U games on PS4 about two years after the initial release) I would not be surprised if Fast Racing Neo comes to Switch and PS4 next year. Art of Balance Switch is pretty much a given also.

I was really looking forward to new Art Style games on the eShop that used 3D in cool ways...

Have a nice day...

I just wish they'd expand some of them. Some of their IPs have potential to brancho out into different genres.

F-Zero comes to mind right away. They have over 30 characters that they could use for a fighting/sandbox/adventure/action games.

Starfy and Kirby could very well be in a cross over.

Custom Robo is dead, but it has potential as well. A full fledged RPG perhaps?

Then 1080, Wave Race, and Excite. Their last games were all very nice. Excitebots Trick Racing is a BLAST to play, with some mechanics that are rarely, if ever seen in racing games.

Glory Of Heracles could return as well. Geist could be their own FPS franchise (is it theirs?). Eternal Darkness and Fatal Frame can fill a void for Mature Rated games in Nintendo hardware.

Its a little frustrating, because we get Zelda and Mario spin offs very often.

Sure, the fans are happy with what it's been offering, but they aren't enough to make it successful on their own.

Well considering that Nintendo will have sold around 80 million units of hardware along with 200 million or so units of first party software this generation, i would say their games certainly do carry alot of weight.

They just need to rethink their offer. The WiiU had so many platformers : new super mario, mario 3d world, donkey kong, yoshi wooly's world, super mario maker, and so many mario games
But no FPS, no sport games, no horror games

A lot have happened in recent years, they had a restructuration, a change of direction, miyamoto stepped back from the hardware, the switch is already a big change. I hope this follow on the software too.
Right now I don t see it, all I saw and all the rumors are just sad IMO, too many remasters, nothing really new ...
I agree that many WiiU games needs a second chance and that some of those remasters likecMario kart and Smash, are a good way to fill up the plannings and give them more time to focus more on other titles, but that many remasters in the first year? That is just stupid

These franchises alone are not enough for wiiu to even sell 15m. That should tell you something.

Also keep in mind that 3ds has had a great number of versions and many (if not most) 3ds owners have bought several 2/3ds'. So the numbers are not representative of the interest of people in Nintendo hardware of its franchises.

While some 3ds games sell incredibly well, most don't even chart, unlike ps4/xb1 which have been ruling them.

Last, keep in mind that a 3/2ds is significantly cheaper than a ps/xb console.

The number of games that big 3rd parties make for a console as well as the effort they put into their ports usually shows how relevant a console is.

Most haven't seen a reboot for a reason.. there are a few that do have a dedicated fanbase, but others aren't significant enough, unfortunately, to warrant a reboot

New IPs are a breath of fresh air, and if they can deliver with what people want (HD Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime 4, etc. ) then that is already good enough, in my opinion

Agreed. They'd better reveal a bunch of new games on January 13th, cos at the moment, it's looking like there will be way too many regurgitated Wii U games and not enough original content.

Well ya Wii U only got a fraction of the Nintendo support 3DS had on top of other obstacles, no Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, Tomodachi Life, Kid Icarus, Nintendogs, Luigi's Mansion, traditional Kirby, 2D Zelda, Mario & Luigi, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Style Savvy, Mario Golf, Fossil Fighters, Chibi Robo, Rhythm Heaven.

You are correct that many people bought multiple 3DS models/special editions but is that any different from other devices? How many people bought the original PS3/360 along with one of their slim models and a special edition? Same with PS4/XBO, how many people bought the original model and bought/plan to buy a slim or pro model? Sure handhelds are more likely to sell multiple units to a single person but the point remains the same.

Your last 3 paragraphs really serve no purpose, the fact that more PS4/XBO games chart, the price of 3DS & number of AAA games a device has are absolutely irrelevent to anything you or I previously said.
