Forums - Nintendo - Why updated ports make sense for Nintendo fans

I agree it's good for most Nintendo fans a.k.a. non-Wii U owners, but for those with Wii U's while this isn't bad for us it's not necessarily good either, that depends on the quality and price of these enhanced ports which remains to be seen.

Well, it is possible that people wanted to buy the games in question getting ports but not enough to buy the console for them. So this is more so for non Wii U owners.

On point, of course.

That is definitely part of the appeal and that is good. Hopefully the first year is not littered with too many ports

I hope so too. It would suck if the 1st year was mostly ports.

I dont even get why are you are trying to argue this, its almost agreed by everyone that PS4/XBO have a steady flow of big releases while Wii U does not.

Because its wrong. its not the number that make ps4/xbox ones a success and wii u a failure.

Its just a handfull of games and other things, like marketing, and reputation.

The ps4 would also be a success with just 50 retail releases, as long those retail releases include games like:

GTA, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Battlefront, Destiny, Divison, Fifa, NBA2k, Madden, Need for Speed, Witcher, Uncharted, Far Cry and co.

Just look up the top 50 selling games basically. Those popular games and franchises sold the console, not the 300 other indie titles,

The Wii U however, got all high hitters nintendo has to offer but a mainline zelda game.

It got a 3D Mario, a 2D Mario Creation Tool, A Pokemon Fighting Game, Mario Kart (Sold more then 30mio last gen) it got 3 Zelda games (2 Remastereds, 1 Spinoff), a brand new IP called Splatoon and co.

All Nintendos Heavy Hitters are on the wii u.

Do you really believe the wii u would be a success if they had released a new Metroid, F-Zero and Animl Crossing game as well ? It hadnt changed much. At best we would see 14mio lifetime instead of 13 mio.

The Games were not Nintendos problem, but bad marketing, bad image (kids console), unattractive priece, lag of third party support were. The Wii brand was already very damaged as Nintendo released the Wii U. Most people that got a wii u used it for some months and then never again, it had bad third party support, bad graphics. All that burned into the minds of most people not to want to buy such a console again.

I would come up with a thought out response but you essentially just agreed with multiple points i made to you earlier.........you literally have no clue what you are arguing about at this point.

Your last post literally agreed with multiple things i said earlier yet you tried using them as arguments against me.

Im my previous game lists i never used a single indie title then you went on to say indie titles dont sell systems. we agree on this point.

You just said shooters, sports, action games are what sell PS/XB consoles. That is essentially what i said earlier when i made a list of PS4/XBO, they have recieved a steady flow of those type of games. we agree on this point.

You just said games were not Nintendo's problem, it was marketing/advertising, price, software output. That is literally what i just said a few posts ago. we agree on this point.

Literally 3/4 of your last post was reiterating things i had already said.

My entire point from the beginning was that these big Nintendo franchises have alot of appeal, the problem was the system they were on and how spread out they were. By releasing on a system with better marketing/advertising, better price, better software output than the system and the games have a much highter chance of success.

Just go back and look at my previous posts.

I never once stated indies were system sellers, hence why I left them off my list of PS4/XBO games.

I believe the primary system selling titles on PS4/XBO are shooters, sports, action games, hence why they make up the bulk of the list i made earlier.

I have said at least 100x times on these forums that games were not Wii U's issue and that i believe it to be a combination of poor marketing/advertising, high price & big releases being spread out too far.

Those are all things i have literally said in our debate and they are things you just said 2 posts ago. Like i said, you do not know what you are even arguing about.

I never even talked about indies. All my listed games on the prev. post were retail games. Lets see how many system sellers released on ps4/xbox one yet and if they had droughts.

The Launch in 2013 in general was a huge drought with no good game.

Nothing here: January 2014-Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition February 2014-Thief, Rayman Legends

March 2014-Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Infamous: Second Son (PS4), Titanfall (XBO)

Nothing here:April 2014-Kinect Sports Rivals (XBO), FFXIV: A Realm Reborn (PS4), Trials Fusion

May 2014-MLB: The Show (PS4), Wolfenstein: New Order, Watch Dogs

Nothing HereJune 2014-Murdered: Soul Suspect, EA Sports UFC

Nothing here (Xbox One) July 2014-Sniper Elite 3, Last of Us Remastered (PS4)

Nothing Here: August 2014-Diablo 3, Madden 15, Metro Redux

September 2014-Warriors Orochi 3, Destiny, NHL 15, FIFA 15, Forza Horizon 2 (XBO), Shadow of Mordor

October 2014-Alien: Isolation, DriveClub (PS4), NBA 2K15, Project Spark (XBO), Sleeping Dogs, The Evil Eithin, Need for Speed Rivals, Lords of the Fallen, NBA Live 15, Sunset Overdrive (XBO)

November 2014-COD: Advanced Warfare, MotoGP 14, Assassin's Creed Unity, Pro Evo Soccer 2015, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Far Cry 4, Grand Theft Auto V, WWE 2K15

Nothing Here: December 2014-The Crew

Nothing Here: January 2015-Resident Evil HD, Saints Row IV, Dying Light

Nothing Here: February 2015-Evolve, Dead or Alive 5, Dragonball Xenoverse

March 2015-DMC: Definitive Edition, Battlefield Hardline, Final Fantasy Type-O, Resident Evil Revelations 2, Borderlands: Handsome Collection, MLB 15: The Show (PS4)

April 2015-Dark Souls II, Mortal Kombat X

May 2015-Project CARS, Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

June 2015-Elder Scrolls Online, Payday 2, Batman: Arkham Knight, MotoGP 15

Nothing Here (Xbox One) July 2015-F1 2015, God of War III Remastered (PS4), PGA Tour

August 2015-Rare Replay (XBO), Zombi, Dishonored, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition (XBO), Madden 16, Until Dawn (PS4)

September 2015-Mad Max, MGSV: Phantom Pain, Tearaway Unfolded (PS4), Forza 6 (XBO), Pro Evo 2016, NHL 16, FIFA 16, NBA Live 16, NBA 2K16

October 2015-Disgaea 5 (PS4), Rock Band 4, Nathan Drak Collection (PS4), Dragon Quest Heroes (PS4), Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Darksiders 2, Halo 5 (XBO), WWE 2K16

November 2015-Need for Speed, Black Ops 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider (XBO), Star Wars Battlefront, Deadpool, Beyond: Two Souls (PS4)

December 2015-Just Cause 3, Rainbow Six: Siege

Nothing Here: January 2016-Resident Evil Zero HD, Yakuza: Kiwani (PS4)

You see, both system has similar droughts then the wii u. Games that sold 1-2 Mio @40 Mio installed HW base definitly ARE droughts for the mass market. Very similar to my listed wii u games that sold 200-500k @13 Mio installed hw base.

And you still dont got the point. The Nintendo games were good, good meta scores and big franchises. More minor franchises between releases wouldnt move consoles. But they arnt good enough to compete with the competition in terms of popularity and marketing. Mass market is no longer interested in getting Mario kart over COD, Assassins Creed, GTA and Witcher. And those games wont be on the switch as well.

Not every game needs to be a massive system seller to be a notable release.

Thief, Madden, Evolve, Xenoverse, Sniper Elite, The Crew, UFC are notable releases that appeal to the PS/XB audience.

Having million selling games on a nearly monthly basis is not a drought, thats not how that works at all.
