Forums - Politics - Hollywood, you deserve this. This is your damn fault!

Stop whining about "Hollywood". The Republican party is just as eager to trot out celebrities as anyone else. They had an actor I don't even know speak at the RNC this year. Stop looking for scapegoats.

They both certainly will use any recognizeable name they can to put forth their agenda, but it is undeniable that the liberals/democrats have a much stronger presence in Hollywood.  They rely heavily on it with the younger voters too.

Wait, people from metropolitan areas voting Democrat? Totally unheard of. I honestly think it's less of a Hollywood thing, and more of an artist thing. If you've ever lived in a community of artists the introspection and open-mindedness required if genuine creativity often clashes with the conservative policies of the Republican party in general, and more particularly with the hateful thinking of Tea Party candidates and Trump.

That's not to say there aren't great artists who are conservative, it's just not as common - and their conservatism is not often of the radical variety. Even conservative hardliners create art that shares messages of noninterventionalism, forgiveness, coexistence, and understanding.

So your metric is google recognizing she being called a celebrity? She appears on the midia all the time, have special privileges for being famous, etc. That is a celebrity even if you don't say. Donald Trump is much more a entrepeuner than a celebrity.

No, I just wantd to see how many hits agreed with you.

Clinton is in the media for politics.  Trump has done TV shows, Wrestling, Movies, Miss USA....  Do you honestly equate appearing on CNN (Clinton) as being the same celebrity as The Apprentice or Wrestlemania (Trump)?

ok them. But again, Trump is first a business man, second a celeb.

TrumpTV proves he's trying to marry the two.

You would have to say that the two would be politician and celebrity now, because he passed the control of the companies to his heir while he is president

I think Hollywood has become disconnected from most of America

Uh ... even America doesn't want to see a movie about their shitty lives. They go to the movies/watch Netflix because they want to escape from that.

We don't want to see average looking people doing average things where more or less not much happens. Would you watch this movie for 2 hours? I doubt it.

Hollywood is supposed to be better looking/more exciting/etc. etc.

Though the irony here is these supposed "middle class rural folk" elected a guy who was born a millionaire, lives in a glass tower on Wall Street, never has worked a day of manual labor in his life, started his business with a "small" $14 million dollar loan from daddy, etc. etc. etc. but Hollywood actors, many of whom grew up poor/broke/middle class at best are somehow "unrelatable". lol. OK.

Rural America is dying anyway and nothing is going to change that (not this election). No young person in their right mind wants to live on a farm and old people tend to (well) die. In 20-30 years most everyone will live in a city/metro center.

This is a weird topic. You might as well be blaming the moon and trying to shoot it.

Trump isn't even from Hollywood, he's from New York, and the people that voted for him aren't from Hollywood either.

Daily Show is also from New York.

Personally been enjoying the celebs crying and back pedalling on their comments. Any news on when Cranston and De Niro are leaving America?

De Niro never said anything about leaving the US he just wants to punch him in the face and so do half the people that voted in the election and probably half the people or more that didn't bother to vote in the election.

I'm pretty sure he didn't plus he is only 1/4 Italian and I'm pretty sure his wife doesn't want to move to Italy neither.
