Forums - Politics Discussion - Bernie Sanders wouldn't have lost against Trump

Who should've run for president as democratic candidate?

Hillary Clinton 6 4.62%

Bernie Sanders 105 80.77%

Joe Biden 5 3.85%

Elizabeth Warren 2 1.54%

Bill Clinton 12 9.23%

Total:130

Probably, but there's nothing that can be done now! :/

Even a monkey would have been a better choice than Clinton.

Definitely. But I'd go as far as to say that anybody but Clinton would have won. Clinton was the worst candidate possible, and even with all her scandals, her image as an establishment insider, and (imo) her unbearable voice, Trump ended up barely above thanks to a last moment momentum and a last scandal. He was not a strong candidate for so many reasons. About anybody on Democrat side would have grabbed these few percents, and Bernie Sanders taking a fair share of protest votes and people wanting change would have won by a landside.

And so many reasonable people were like "don't vote for 3rd parties", "suck it up that the DNC rigged the primary", "Trump is worst" but at the end of the day, it did not work. Half the people just can't suck it up anymore, that's what happened. It's not as much people fighting against the system than the system rigging, financing, supporting far too much, and trying to take even more.

Doesn't mean a lot.

It's about matchups, not as clear as Trump >Clinton>Bernie

It wasn't as many though.  A lot of early matchups had him winning higher margins.  If there were 10 voters who would never vote for Bernie, there were probably 20 or more voters who would never vote Clinton.

Bernie would have actually had a chance by being anti-establishment.  Even some people that voted for Trump liked that about him.  Also Bernie could have been able to pull in the gun vote, something Clinton wouldn't be able to do.

Oh he is anti establishment, that's his biggest strength.  Just hard to see the right - even the moderate right - backing him and if he couldn't nite the Democratic party, he would have been hard pressed to win.  It would have been a cllse race, win or lose.

Either Sanders or Warren would have landslided past Trump. I guess we'll never know now because the DNC had to tip the damn scales to one side.

F*ck appealing to the right, that's exactly what the DNC has done for decades and people are rejecting very clearly.

Time for a real progressive movement to unify, and if the DNC wants to be part of it, they need to get rid of all the scum like Clinton, DWS, Brazile and the remaining corportate pieces of shit. I'm calling it now, Warren 2020.

Yup, if Bernie was the Democratic nomination I would've voted for him but nooooo the DNC fucked up big time.

I'm not a U.S. citizen, but for me, he was the man. I think he would have been a fantastic leader.

I would rather have Trump than socialist Berni Sanders. He would fk this economy up more than it already is.

True. Hillary and DNC had to cheat and be shady just to beat him. Bernie would have whipped Trump.

Maybe, but he did lose against Clinton, unlike Trump

It was rigged.

This is ridiculous. Would Bernie have won if he was the candidate? I have no idea. However, I find it hard to believe that so many people who were Hillary supporters would have put the country's welfare at risk of a Trump presidency just to prove a point. Trump (aka, the Republican conservative right) will likely get to appoint multiple Supreme Court vacancies now and tip the outcome of civil rights movements for decades. I do not care that Bernie was not the candidate, I care the Trump is the winner. Anyone who chose to not vote for Hillary because Bernie didn't win did more harm to the country than good. Even Bernie was saying that his supporters needed to vote for her after he lost.
