Forums - Nintendo - Official Emily Rogers Discussion Thread: No More Rumors Until January

People still believe her Zelda rumours after the whole female Link debacle? ROFL.

it's not even a rumor, she's just guessing and openly saying "I don't think this is a launch game" because she has some info about the localization.

People are really talking about not getting the game because it may be delayed? This is a Zelda game we are talking about, not to mention their first true in-house 3D open world game, also the biggest game they have ever developed. Of course there was going to be delays.

I don't even know if I want to buy this game anymore, even if it does come to Wii U.

At this stage, it just has so much negative baggage attached to it, I don't think I'd be able to enjoy it. I don't think I have ever felt so much frustration and bitterness towards a video game in my life.

To be fair this is potentially the BIGGEST game in Nintendo's history. Zelda is a precious IP to them as well as to the rest of the industry. E3 showed it was more than worth the wait. All that negative baggage you speak of..I don't know how much those have reasonated after E3.

This is an HD, 3D, open World game from one of the most respected franchises in this industry. Fans expect greatness or close to perfection from these mainline games, no matter how fair it is. And before someone mentions the spinoffs and remakes/re masters that have occurred during BoTW's development, most of them were developed by outside sources. Plus, the amiibo functionality (especially with the Wolf Link data being able to transfer from TPHD to BoTW) is something Nintendo isn't gonna just drop so the Wii U version should remain alongside the Switch version.

i get your feelings on this, but I still disagree with your overall point. Especially after the blowout from E3, thus, for me, a couple extra months won't hurt. Some fans have waited for FFXV and Last Guardian for about 10 years so..

A few months delay might be understandable. A year and a half is just not good enough. Heads should roll at Nintendo; in my job if I consistently failed to meet my deadlines, I would be fired.

I'm just so sick of it being dragged out, of the constant uncertainty, of the fear of it not coming to Wii U always hanging over my head. I just want the whole thing to be over with, it's been one long nightmare the last two years, with still no clear end in sight.

Amiibo functionality alone should at least give you an idea that kicking out the Wii U version might not be of their best interest. While we don't know how amiibo will function with Switch, we definitely know with Wii U with the gamepad.

I agree that kicking out Wii U would not be a good idea, but after they've bullshitted us so many times about this game, I just don't trust them any more. How can I take them at their word when they said it would be out in 2015?

It's not the first time a game planned for a release year and then got delayed later on. And as I've mentioned, and I'm sure others have as well, this is potentially such a grand game.

It's not normal for a game to be delayed by a year and a half though.

Said it in the previous thread, I'll say it again here:
If it gets delayed, so does the Switch. Unless they have a new 3D Mario game ready go by March, Breath of the Wild is the Switch's #1 big launch title, if that gets delayed, and you launch Switch without it, you are sending it down the same path the Wii U went.
As far as the game itself, sales wise, it's going to do great no matter when it releases, Zelda is Zelda, and with how the game looks and plays, leading to the expectations being sky high, Zelda fans, Nintendo fans, and gamers will go lining up in droves to by the game, Wii U, Switch, or Both, doesn't matter, they'll be ALL OVER IT. Breath of the Wild will be just fine, the Switch however, not so much.
