Ok, I understand your point, but I don't think they would lose from attracting more gamers (do you really think the niche they have would abandon then just because they added an "easy option")?

It wouldnt be dark souls if it had an easy mode. it would abandon its reason for being. This is a niche game for a hardened audience.Demon Souls would never have become famous if it was easy. In a market that is filled with easy mode players dark souls dared to fill the need of hardened gamers who arent challenged. Think about this....if Dead pool was rated PG-13 so kids could get into it...would it have been a true deadpool movie? Robocops reboot was PG-13 and look how much it took from the heart and soul of what ws Robo cop just to try and find a wider audience. Sometimes you have to have faith in the character and premise is going to go over with the audience it was meant to be shown to. They were scared for Deadpool and it ended up breaking records for rated R movies. Dead Pool couldnt have been portrayed properly with a PG 13 rating and neither could Dark Souls if an Easy mode option. It doesnt hurt the real gamers...but it sells out to what it is. Its the basic concept of principle over profit and luckily for Dark Souls its one of few games of its kind that are profitable.

Errrrrrrrrrrr changing a movie to PG-13 is quite different to adding an option to a game.

You're not getting what I am saying. Dead Pool is great because all of the factors that made it genuine was due to the writing being only for adults. Its the only way they could freely write up the script that embodied the spirit of the character. They did not water down the  movie. In games when a game is made to test a person in a certain type of way, to water it down is to kill the true meaning of what that game is.

As I said, your issue is that you want to be in the club, but you dont care about the principle of what the game is. What makes Dark Souls great isnt the storymode, but rather the grueling gameplay and bossses and sparsely seen campfire save spots. This game is for gamers who have a never say die attitude. They keep coming back even after they have to turn the game off and come back. The euphoria of beating the game is because it was one of the toughest many have ever faced.

When I was growing up when I went to the arcade all of the kids played Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter, but when Killer Instinct came out only a handful of players mastered that game while others watched in awe. They would try to learn the game, but it was deeper and harder to grasp than MK and Street FIghter. In the end...they were what made up the audience. KI made enough money to be considered a profitable game but was never a fan favorite franchise.  It was a cult classic. This is also due to the fact that it was exclusive to arcades and Nintendo.

You dont get an option for easy because if you had an easy mode you wouldnt be playing Dark Souls. You can only demand harder difficulty which comes with new game plus.

I love to be considered idiot, but ok.

Have you ever considered that to your level of skill the game is challenging as is? Having the easier option (and it doesn't need to be dumbed down, sometimes very few minor adjustments could keep the soul of the game but still be accessible and on comparable hard challenge to you that is for other players) while for some other guys it still is quite easy since they can speedrun the game and finish it with initial equip. Still those guy accept you there and don't demand that the game lose the equips and other things they don't use.

Several folks complain VG nowadays is too easy and mention autosave, excess of items, etc... Guess what, you can still challenge yourself by restarting a game if you are hit once, or killed once, don't pick up the items, etc. You don't need to push your elitism feeling towards others.

I could ask so many similar questions with different games

You're not an idiot and I never suggested such. An easy option for Dark Souls...makes it no longer dark souls . For me the game is challenging...actually very challenging. I hadnt had my rear whipped like that since first playing the Witcher 2. The point of this game is for you to die numerous times.  Its not about elitism. Its about accepting the diversity of certai n types of games. I was introduced to dark souls because my friend couldnt beat it and gave it to me out of frustration. Just saying. The primacy concept of the game is to play it and survive it the way its meant to be played. Thats all I am saying. Its not about elitism, but rather more for more headstrong gamers who like to push their limits.

I have no issues with devs putting easy modes in most games. The majority of the market is casual, but this game was not made for casuals.

Nathan > Lara any day of this life... And this is coming from someone who bears a grudge against Sony!

I will consider as you didn't had the intention. But when you insist that someone doesn't understand you are basically calling them an idiot for not being able to understand you. The right way would be "perhaps I'm explaining it right so that you see how I see". And I say that because I do understand what you are saying and I just disagree. GT games have the platinum time goal, those are for the real hardcore (even more on the S-license) but for some getting even Silver is already an almost impossible challenge. And that is what I'm trying to show you. Yes the point of Dark Souls is to make you die a lot and suffer. But my point is that for you that point is the current difficult level (maybe a little higher or lower would be the ideal limit for you), but for someone less able (because there is difference in hability, even after playing 650 hours of GT5 I wasn't able to clear all the S times, miss something between 20-50% and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't ever get the platinum on Vettel challenge or doing the timelap for Nurburgring. For me that is almost an impossible barrier that probably even after doubling my playtime I wouldn't be able to surpass.
