What is it with people confusing innovation with originality? Being original is hard. Being innovative means using a concept in a way that isn't being used. It doesn't mean that it's not innovative just because someone thought of it before.

I pretty much agree with what you`re saying, doing something well is more important than just doing it first. But typically when Nintendo is brought in to discussions the response is often something like `they`re better cuz they did it first` which just seems like a silly idea to me, so of course I`m not going to miss an opportunity to have a joke at those people`s expense.

You still haven't answered my question. What Chinese dudes?

For me though, when I feel some people say this console did it first, I think they mean they were the first to do it right.

I dunno what Chinese dudes, if I remembered I would have said their name rather than just `Chinese dudes` There was a thread on here about them awhile back though.

TBH my criticism on the innovation thing was much more aimed at games and how people regularly complain about games lacking innovation. I`d much rather they take an old concept and improve on it than use some crappy new idea just so people can say `wow, so innovative!` Plus how some people say older games were the best because of their innovations, but really if newer games have taken those innovations and built upon them then they should be considered better by default.

The makers of the Morphus X300, Aikun, which was revealed last year. It essencially an Android tablet with wireless controllers.

As for the orginal topic. From what I can tell they didn't release it because they didn't have any software ready to be revealed and it seems they are still working on the software, which may be good or bad depending on how many make the showing in Jan.

Because they didn't have any games or footage to show.

I hope you don't seriously believe Nintendo only came up with the Switch last year. R & D would have likely begun before the Wii U already released. I'm pretty sure some Nintendo patents were already leaked a year or two ago that indicated Nintendo's direction. The Chinese thing looks like something that was quickly thrown together, maybe they did copy Nintendo based on their patents.

I still personally prefered the Skyward Sword Wii U reveal E3. That was stuff of Legends!

Are you talkin g about E3 2010 where Miyamoto didn't know how to play the damn game? I don't remember anything about SS at E3 2011.

No, I was talking about the Symphony of The Goddess, Wii U reveal, and stage demos for Skyward Sword.

Oh, my bad. I looked it up and now I know what you're refering to. Yeah, the Symphony of the Goddess was definitely very good that year!

I don't, I was just answered the question on who those chinese where people where talking about. And the Morphus looks like they ripped off the patent that Nintendo filed back then almost wholesale.

According to Reggie, they had plenty of NS stuff they could have shown off at this years E3.

Because they didn't want people to steal their idea... which was already done with the Morphus X300. Years earlier.

.... Somehow Nintendo thought people would want to steal the idea of a 720p tablet with controller nubs. It still boggles the mind.

To be fair the wiimote was old technology but somehow with that in Nintendo's hands they made millions of $$ and not only that, MS and Sony did jump the band wagon right afterwards.  Nintendo kinda has that touch where if they do it, it's sort of special.

The guy that invented the gyroscopic controls that ended up in Wii went to both Sony and MS before Nintendo bought the technology. Its funny but both Sony and MS could have stopped Wii from happening.
