Forums - Nintendo - Kimishima: Switch has “overwhelmingly positive” reaction thus far

So why are you shipping only 2M?

Because they are releasing it March 31?

The good thing is even if Nintendo doesn't meet those expectations, the fact that it's not sold as a loss means it's a win for the company. Granted I hope each unit makes profit, and not breaks even.

PSn - greencactaur
Nintendo Switch FC - SW - 5152 - 6393 - 5140 Please feel free to add me :)

I like the switch but to say the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive is ... not true lol.
The internet is still burning - "This is fine" - "Yup this is just fine"

What do you mean? Most of the comments and video reactions are positive, and the Switch has a decent buzz on social media. This has not been received like the 2DS was (mockery and/or apathy) or Federation Force (outright reject).

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Well seeing as how Nintendo usually launched their games on a Friday, I'm going to make the assumption that the they'll do the same for Switch, could be wrong though.
So that would leave the possible release dates if they stick to March - 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st. 5 possible release dates if they launch it on a Friday AND assuming it's a simultaneous worldwide release (An EXTREMELY rare case for video game hardware)
If it releases on the 3rd or the 10th, they could very well reach that 2 million mark.
17th would be stretching it.
24th or 31st - they're kidding themselves.

I don't care for the concept. A tablet with controller nubs isn't exactly Nintendo innovation. The real test will be when they show the games in January. I think it might make or break the system.

Its almost certan that Switch will have very strong launch linep.

3DS was launched in February in Japan, basically strongest market for handheld, so for Japan 3DS had 5 weeks of sales, not just one week. So it's really hard to compare with Switch expecting launch numbers.

Even if you only count the first 2 days of the 3DS in Japan and the 5-6 days of sales in March in the rese of the world that's still 2.95M shipped.

And that tells what exactly!?

First quarter results:

1.50m Xbox 360
1.84m PlayStation 3
3.19m Wii
3.06m Wii U
4.20m PlayStation 4
3.00m Xbox One

Keep in mind each of those systems had 6-7 weeks of sales and a holiday season.

Expect launch in last week of March, 2m for one week of launch isn't exactly some huge number, its actually little conservative.

They are only whipping 2M? That's not even enough for all the youtubers

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

2m shipment until end of March, and Switch will most likely be launched in last week of March.

That's still much less than the 3DS.

You need a better way of Downplay

All thats left to do is make sure it launches at a good price (249$?), and has games ready at launch.

Which is what I was trying to get at in my thread about a week ago. I wasn't saying it will result in sales but this is a video that has reached a status that Nintendo hasn't achieved since they joined Youtube. It even has more views than that of the Wii U trailer which released about 5 years ago. That's a huge jump. This is big for Nintendo.

You know what would make the reception even more positive? Metroid Prime 4.
