I don't care for the concept. A tablet with controller nubs isn't exactly Nintendo innovation. The real test will be when they show the games in January. I think it might make or break the system.

Its almost certan that Switch will have very strong launch linep.

3DS was launched in February in Japan, basically strongest market for handheld, so for Japan 3DS had 5 weeks of sales, not just one week. So it's really hard to compare with Switch expecting launch numbers.

Even if you only count the first 2 days of the 3DS in Japan and the 5-6 days of sales in March in the rese of the world that's still 2.95M shipped.

And that tells what exactly!?

First quarter results:

1.50m Xbox 360
1.84m PlayStation 3
3.19m Wii
3.06m Wii U
4.20m PlayStation 4
3.00m Xbox One

Keep in mind each of those systems had 6-7 weeks of sales and a holiday season.

Well seeing as how Nintendo usually launched their games on a Friday, I'm going to make the assumption that the they'll do the same for Switch, could be wrong though.
So that would leave the possible release dates if they stick to March - 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st. 5 possible release dates if they launch it on a Friday AND assuming it's a simultaneous worldwide release (An EXTREMELY rare case for video game hardware)
If it releases on the 3rd or the 10th, they could very well reach that 2 million mark.
17th would be stretching it.
24th or 31st - they're kidding themselves.

Expect launch in last week of March, 2m for one week of launch isn't exactly some huge number, its actually little conservative.
