Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo: Switch dock only for charging and TV-out

I have maintained all along that if what was rumored was true, this is not a hybrid. This is a hand held with an option for video out.

I was shredded for it then but I hope people have come to terms now that Nintendo has basically confirmed as much.

Hey, I thought the same.  I said that if the gimmick for the NX was essentially a Nvidia Shield with detachable controls and video out then it would be disappointing. I know some people here love the NS and that's cool but from a personal perspective of someone who doesn't like portable gaming, it's just very disappointing.  It's like a cruel jest to call the NS a home console because it isn't; it's a portable with video out.

Just as I assumed.

Chargeing, cables to hook up to TV, and maybe a cooling fan blowing air to cool the tablet when its docked.

That means the dock part is really cheap.

The Controll unit that you clip on those side controls from the tablet looks cheap too.

I hope this means the intire thing goes for 249$.

If the dock is cheap I hope you can buy additional ones.  You could have a doc on each tv and easily 'move' your console from room to room.

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

The only hope left of this turning into a real home console is the SCD patent they got lol.

Supplemental Computing Device

Power is what makes a real home console?

yep because studios these days don't want to build games from scratch just port from one system to another.

So just like the PSP Go. Works for me.

Okay...this isn't a home console no matter how much Nintendo wants to say it is; it's a strong handheld with tv-out capabilities.

Nintendo:" We have a portable console with a screen, mobile chipsets, battery, cartridges, accessories to play on the go, but it's not a handheld, it's firts & foremost a home console, because you know, you can plug it to a TV." Sorry this is 100% a handheld console & sorry again but it has nothing original at all, it's a small tablet that plugs into the TV & you can pair a classical controller to it, just like any tablet has been doing for half a decade!!! Nothing new here except it's fugly as a Garmin GPS!!!

Are those controllers motion sensitive as well or were those people playing Mario Kart just really into it? No d-pad on them either? Wiimote compatibility? USB, expandable memory, power compared to wiiu, VC compatibility, battery life, anal, will my DK bongo drums work?

The new Nintendo Switch.

Anyways, both a little bummed and relieved that it doesn't add power.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

That's good news. Why did you post it then?

Lol.

And agreed.

+1 for  the insinuation... lol  ;) So it's a common secret!

Anyway!

For me it's not, since it means no screen controller like with the wii u! However, I guess that it had to differenciate from the wii u somewhere...

The portable device is so  sexy and elegant, unlike the ''boulder'' of the wii u! haha

I'm wondering if it can connect to the dock wirelessly, then that would possibly mean screen controller too.

Edit: In general it is good news... For the price! ;)

Now I wonder... is it going to be more powerful than a Wii U? :s Any solid rumors about specs?

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won
