If the NS is 400 dollars, and every angry forumposter says "NINTENDO DOOOOOOM HOW DARE THEY"
What's the alternative? Where can I put 400 dollars to get Nintendo games, other than the NS?

People have zero issue with disgustingly overpriced apple products, because the brand is cool or whatever. Its ridiculous.

Why is Apple expensive though? Best tech? Nope. Did Apple spend a lot of time developing their stuff, perhaps?
Research and development? Exclusivity, branding, marketing? These things might actually cost a ton of money.
Spoiler alert, Nintendo actually has to pay for stuff too. They do not exist inside some kind of vacuum where everything is made out of magic.

Spoiler alert, people posting in this very thread have justified lower prices based on specific component cost breakdowns. (You haven't)

And did you miss the thread where some no-name Chinese assembler was shopping the same hybrid/detachable controller concept?
Did you miss the product announcement where it was revealed that NVIDIA (with Shield/Tegra) was behind product design including OS/API?

I really don't get the benefit of bringing up Apple here, specifically calling their pricing "disgusting" and "ridiculous",
and then expecting Nintendo to replicate that, and for people to be happy with that?
Sounds like you're jealous of Apple, and want your favorite Nintendo to get away with whatever they want.  Good luck with that.
Spoiler alert, Sony also spends on R&D, marketing, and also has exclusive games, yet can offer the power they do for the price they do.
Nintendo fanboys are the only ones who have a problem with holding Nintendo to the same metric re: costs/benefit as other producers.

Honestly, even $300 is too high in a market where you can get a PS4/X1 for that much.
For what Switch offers, it should be $250 USD.

Agreed, the poll needs a lower option, I think the OP is just too defensive about the issue to even acknowledge that possibility.
People even posted the prices of NVIDIA's previous Shields ($200), the addition of dock shouldn't need more than $50.
I mean, a dock REALLY doesn't cost $50*, so IMHO a $200 price point is reasonable to include in conversation, IMHO.
Nintendo is going to be banking on all their own games, as well as controllers, in ways that NVIDIA never did with Shield.

* I doubt it costs more than $20for a fancier case and pass-thrus, given the unit needed a charger anyways...
...which is low enough there isn't really a cost rationale to offer a dock-less SKU.

Depend what they reveal i jan 2017.

For what we seen so far if it isn't any better than $250 tops.

This is a ????? question. Double ?????. What am i getting? If it has docking sauce, I would pay $399, and take a kick in the testicles distributing NS leaflets in eastern Europe.

No. $299.

Maybe Switch pro controller and game bundle at $349, but $299 option is a must.

This thing isn't going to sell at $399.

I'm skeptical of its chances at $299 to be honest, when you can get a PS4/Xbone for that much.

You're pulling a lot of stuff out of your ass here. My entire point is that components alone are a worthless comparison. Was that really so hard to understand?

Apple get away with ridiculous, disgusting prices. Nintendo is soooooooooooooooo far away from that price model. What are you even saying? If Apple can safely get away with, lets say 100 dollars, for component X. Why does Nintendo have to go for 10 dollars, or else they're dumb, greedy and above all else: doomed? 400, as in this example, is nothing. I've never said they should go for 10k dollars or whatever.

"...yet can offer the power..." Does the PS4 have a tablet controller? They're different. There are more factors than power, and as we all know, power has NEVER guaranteed anything.

Apple succesfully convinced people that due to their high prices and kinda decent tech, they are exclusive, luxurious, fashonable and overall products that are very much sought for. Its genius, really. Also kinda crazy. The elitist hate towards Nintendo somehow pushed the idea that they're only allowed to go for budget prices. Its purely a mentality thing. There are ugly paintings worth millions of dollars, and beautiful paintings that cost less than a dime.

Btw, I think 400 is a lot of money. I'd probably wait, regardless. I just want things to be fair, and they most certainly aren't.

Still would buy it day one

I am planning on buying one, however it would hurt if it costs more than $299. I haven't seen anything that seems to be valued past that. $299 plus ill need a Pro Controller which is another $49 *estimated* and probably a portable case. The console will end up costing me close to $380. So anything higher that $299 is going to hurt.
