Just for those who may have missed it, the Skyrim they showed was Skyrim Remastered. Now, given the facts we know of that version's features as well as the fact Bethesda sucks terribly at optimization (love ya BGS but you got a long way to go yet), I think it's a pretty safe assumption this is markedly more powerful than the Wii U. At the weakest it is within striking distance of the One, enough to make solid ports possible without excessive work.

And yes, I am positive that was Skyrim Remastered. Modded and played that game for thousands of hours and that was not the atrocious lighting of Skyrim vanilla :P

As a device, I like it. It really is a home console that is portable, rather than an uncomfortable attempt to cram home console into a handheld. Success of this is going to rely HEAVILY on marketing though, communicating the unique advantages while emphasizing it has plenty of traditional capabilities. As for the early lineup, Breath of the Wild looks good as usual, Splatoon is getting a sequel, and a new Mario. For 3 minutes...shoot I'll take that.

Splatoon is going esports it seems, which could be big in Japan. Or even the world :-p.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

If the Switch on the mobile form is as powerful as an XOne or close to it, then this will be a very powerful console.I mean, it looks like it rans Mario Kart 8 at the very least. So as a handheld its going to be excellent. As a home console, we need to learn more

What if, as a handheld it's as powerful as a wii u and as a home console its powerful like that ad rtx 470 console rumor that's going on. Tegra for protable.

It would be unnessarily complex. You usually don't mix graphics chips like that so if they used one of one company they used the same chip in the base. I'm guessing if they has an extra chip it is just two "lower" quality chips.

I have to say i'm really impressed so far.

My main concern is still about the power of the system though, but if it's getting games like Skyrim remastered I would hope it's either at least at Xbox One power level or close to it, maybe if we're lucky it could be slightly above it.

There's no way from what I saw that that is even XBox One in power. The Mario game doesn't look like anything the Wii U couldn't run.

Looks maybe a tad better than a Wii U, isn't Skyrim like 5 year old game? What's the big deal?

Wow this is perhaps the worst looking controller I've ever seen! xD

Thank goodness you have other control options, buying the dedicated (pro controller?) is gonna be a must for using on a tv!

Honestly, I'm not seeing the point of the "sandwich" controller.
Sure, for the tablet itself, or in individual hand mode, it makes sense.
But instead of keeping the "sandwich" module to connect the controllers to...
Why not just keep a normal good controller around?  Which they also offer apparently.
So what is the point of the "sandwich" module at all?

Because a local area wireless protocol would suck.

I'm hoping for the dock to run the games, not the handeld (potentially more horsepower).

Not happending, its too costly to do things that way.

The benefits of keeping things in 1 system, instead of makeing 2 that work together is too big.

Plus look at the size of the docking station. Seriously doubt theres anything in there that gives it more horsepower.

Its just a strong tablet, and thats it.

When it docks it doesnt have to worry about power usage, so it runs faster.

But its all running on that chip inside the tablet.

So that's pretty much an handeld wii U. I'm kind of disappointed at the concept, somehow.

The screen looks good, it would be a comfy console to play visual novels.

Its not... its going to be about 500 Gflops when its docked (max power), which means about 1/3rd of the XOne.

Going by those rumors of 3x Wii U performance.

Its going to be less than that, when its not docked.... but still powerfull by tablet standards.

By home console standards, this is going to be like 1/10th of the PS4 pro.

Nothing in that video suggested to me that the dock would have any affect whatsoever on the power of the machine, it looks like simply a charing dock with hdmi out and usb ports.

So let's see here:
- The official name is Nintendo Switch
- The Hybrid rumors are true!
- We've got NBA 2K and from the looks of it, Skyrim.
- A new 3D Mario game!
- What looks like Splatoon 2
- The March 2017 release date is still on.
God Damn It, I want more!!!!!!

Idk if I would call it a hybrid just yet... It just sits on a docking station which appears to be charging it and displaying the output onto the TV. Unless the docking station provides extra significant performance, it is silly to call it a hybrid.

this, the overall concept is simply great, and for a handheld the graphics are super

either an extra graphics accessory for the dock, or it's a really cool handheld that also hooks on tv, not a home console

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Well the ps4 was basically the ps3

I assume he's talking about power, in which case it looks like he's probably right, and the ps4 was certainly not basically a ps3 when it comes to that.

I think its as powerful as wii u as a portable using tegra and powerful using that amd rtx 470 rumor for the home console

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

Yo, Spemanig, where you at, dogg?

0:54, please explain

Having said what I said earlier, Nintendo must market and sell 2 different bundles, one for mobile gaming and the other for home gaming.

If they can sell the home console version for $250-299 with a pad, game and decent HDD, I reckon it will appeal to more gamers who usually don't buy a Ninty system.

I've got a feeling Ninty will sell the dock, screen and controller for $399. The switch device with the controllers will probably cost an extra $150 as they will probably throw in a case.
