Japanese games will not sell on xbox even if MS get games like persona. The fanbase for those games is just not on the MS console, so devs won't waste their time on it. They won't see profit if they do it.

I don't think making a studio is necessary. They simply need to encourage these studios to put games on their console even if MS has to fund part of it. Western studio tend to put their games on as many viable platform as possible. But Japanese studios tend to make exclusives pretty often. |
Nonsense. Its completely necessary. Its already been shown time and again that they will ignore the Xbox One in favor of just doing a PlayStation version, or maybe a Vita version. If MS gets the ball rolling, and show that their games can be made on Xbox One with little extra effort, and that its a extra market for their products, then they might start doing it themselves. But until then MS needs to step up.
Besides Sony already does this and nobody complains.

Extra effort? It SHOULD take less effort to put their games on Xbox One than port games PS3 or Vita. PS4 and X1 have similar specs and arcitecture, unlike PS3 and Vita.
If countless indie studios can support both PS4 and X1, then so can Japanese studios. Ignoring Xbox is ignoring a signficiant western audience, go figure.

Well how many units does a port need to sell to make a profit? Japanese games aren't exactly AAA stuff. A few 100K sales should be enough to make a profit.
I get the impression being on one platform is a strategy for these studios. Persona could do well on Wii U but its not getting a port either.

Totally agree. They tried really hard on the first three years of Xbox 360 life and they failed to sell the console at acceptable rate. They were releasing two or three exclusive JRPG per year. I mean look at this list: Lost Odyssey Blue Dragon Tales of Vesperia Eternal Sonata Magna Carta Infiniti Undiscovery the Last Remenant Star Ocean 4 Ace Compatible 6 + Other smaller exclusivesize In addition to getting a lot of multiplatform like FF13 and Resident Evil
Xbox 360 was the place to go when you're looking for Japanese content and that says a lot.
No one can really are more from them, and yet they didn't even reach 2 million.
And people in the west didn't help. Those games barely broke 500k.
You'Lloyd have a very hard time convincing the investor to pump more money repeating the experiment.

They'd probably like those 360 numbers in Japan for the Xbox one. Also, wouldn't those types of games likely increase console sales outside of Japan as well? It's not as though they couldn't use help in Europe and other markets.
l <---- Do you mean this glitch Gribble? If not, I'll keep looking.
I am on the other side of my sig....am I warm or cold?
Marco....
They dont need to conquare Japan in consoles sales they just need to make games that has Japanese style (JRPG, platformer) more then SONY, and they need to keep trying more and more , games like recore might not get them number one in Japan but it keep diversity on their library , and will attract worlwide gamer.

This is a big thing I don't like about Phil Spencer...
Everytime he talks about the Xbox One he has to refer to Playstation 4 in any kind of way...

Sony and Nintendo. When talking about Japan you have to consider handheld because its mainstream there. Nintendo is the most popular there. |
We're talking home consoles here and in particular Sony vs Microsoft.
Sure why don't you bring in mobile while you're at it.

It did help increase the sales outside Japan but not the amount that justify the money they lose every year securing those exclusive. You can look how much those games sold outside Japan to find it is not a real help.
