Sad if this is true. NX is going to be horribly weak and will be forgotten shortly after launch. I don't know how anyone can hope for such weak hardware.

Yeah if this thing is similar to Eurogamer rumors and weaker than XB1, you can consider this dead in the water sadly.

You mean same like DS, Wii and 3DS were forgotten shortly after launch and dead in the water!?

So what if its weak hardware compared to XB1/PS4, rumours saying NX will be around 3x stronger than Wii U, and we all know Wii U have great looking games. If you buying consoles for power you need to shift to PC, or wait for Xbox Scorpio at least.

Wii, DS, and 3DS are all different eras. Wii was during the SD TV era for crying out loud. Power matters now. Parents will just as easily hand their kids their cell phone than give shell out hundreds for this.

The only reason this should exist is if they are trying to sell NX for $99-149.

Well for a portable device this is incredibly powerful though I don't know if the chip will be able to run at full tilt in portable mode, that's a ridiculous amount of power for a portable.

Something 3.5x the Wii U (lets say) would allow for PS4/XB1 ports I would think at a lower resolution. Getting a battery life better than 2 hours would be tough though.

I'm still not expecting a powerful Tegra handheld with a dock mode. WIth all these sourcesclaiming so though, more than likely I'm wrong, but for some reason I can't see Nintendo releasing this device people keep talking about.

I'm expecting a handheld and a console, but not really a handheld, more like a companion device, not really thatpowerful, but more powerful than the 3DS able to play games on the go, companion games, and software exclusively for it, but not console games, and caoable of streaming like Wii U.

So if AMD FLOPS are comparable with Nvidia FLOPS it's still below X1. So basically what everyone was expecting.

That begs the question if 3rd parties will bother with ports now that Nintendo's console differs even more from the other two and PC. It might get some fine mobile games which should be easy to port.

Still under half of what the X1s is.

If it gets 3rd party it will be below 720p in resolution.... which could suck if you know a PS4pro will be running 4k (checkerboard).

The thing is, Nintendo's portable business is not a "companion" business, portables have outsold their consoles for decades now.

I may not personally like it, but making the console mode/set up the "companion/bonus" probably makes more sense for Nintendo. A lot more people buy their portables, that's just a cold, hard statistical fact. I suspect Nintendo is tired of their top games (Splatoon, Mario Kart 8, etc.) being locked off from their majority audience base.

How much hardware power does ps4 and x1 have over wiiu?

Wii U is 176 Gflops.

PS4 is 1840 Gflops (aka 1.84 Teraflops)

So theres about a 10 times differnce in flops.

If you take into account, the newer and more effecient design, its well over 10 times the power of a Wii U.

Flops arnt just flops.

That's not so bad, power is the least worrying thing about the NX rumours so far. It doesn't necessairly have to be powerful, just desirable.

1 - Cartridges
2 - Under powered
3 - New gimmick

This is what will prevent third party ports on NX. Cartridges is the most limiting factor IMO.

Power was matters back then too, and Wii much better sales instead PS3/Xbox360 because was way more mass appealing than PS3/Xbox360. And what about DS and 3DS, DS was less powerful than PSP and 3DS is way less powerful than Vita, and again DS sold twice better than PSP and 3DS destroying Vita and actually carries solid with smartphones.

Power is somewhat important only if you have identical product like competition, like PS3/Xbox360 or PS4/XB1 (only real difrence betwin XB1 and PS4 is 900p vs 1080p), they are identical products and that's why every difference is important for them including power, but if you have different product with different experience power isn't really so much matter, actualy power matters only to hard core gamers, and it seems that NX will again be difrent than competition with different experience and again aiming for mass market like Wii.

Hybrid console that is basically handheld and home console in one should have price point of $99-149!? Now you acting silly, just 3DS is curently around $150 and it still sells (if I am correct 3DS was best selling console in US in Avgust).

The usual "lets make shit up about NX" again. Nintendo really need to get their act together and give us a proper unveiling, I'm seeing a lot of die hard Nintendo fans getting fed up and buying PS4's..seriously.
