That you're part of it or not doesn't change the result of that survey from a percentage perspective. The sample is more than big enough to be representative and I'm sure even you know that.

So yeah, your argument was defeated before you even typed all this.

JUst like it was to take the easiest route and forgo all the other factors.

I do believe this has always been the fight between Sony and Microsoft to begin with. However, if they are serious with this, perhaps they could have relaunched Playstation Store that provides digital distribution like Steam or Origin that is also accessible on PC.

PS Store is accessible on PC.

He was talking about a store where PC gamers *own* and are able to play those games as they can do on their PC, not as it *is* played ona  PS3 via a streaming service. STeam doesn't Stream, it's a store client that lets you buy your games and download them to your PC to run as you see fit.

Just look at the PC gamers on our site. Almost nobody owns a GTX 1070 or GTX 1080! Because they are damn expensive and don't offer enough performance for all that money.

You can dream about one and even boast about PC being superior on forums, but if you don't actually own a 1070 or 1080, your PC will not be much faster than a PS4 Pro. Most people who own a PS4 won't upgrade to a $1200 PC, but instead buy a cheaper PC.

I don't own one...yet, but that doesn't mean I don't plan on getting one before I am, albeit going for a 1080ti instead since I know the perf will be higher.

Well they failed miserably then, we are in 2016 and ps4 pro is mid-low end hardware.

PS4 Pro doesn't run games at 1080p and upscale them to 4K, it runs them at a higher resolution somewhere close to 4K and upscales that to 4K. Read that in the DF article.

It also plays games at higher settings than PS4. That is why it doesn't run games at 60fps.

Never said they upscale from 1080p... But Upscaling is still happening. And while it probably does run it a bit higher settings than ps4... Its not PC max at that resolution...

PC:

PS Pro:

Now I am not saying that a 970 can run that at 4k Native cause it can't but at the settings of the Ps4 Pro and upscaled to 4k? We will find out soon enough but I would say more plausible. And of course, PC has the added benefit of running games in 60fps at 1080p.

My point isn't to say that ps4 pro isn't a great console cause it is. I will be getting it as soon as it comes out. But it won't stop people who are looking at PC for better performance and visuals because PC does have exactly that (at higher cost obviously).

They are different scenes with different lighting but in terms of graphical effects I don't see a lot of difference other than lighting. The upscaled 4K still looks almost as good as 4K according to the DF article so it will be good enough for most.

For the best possible graphics PC is the obvious choice, but PS4 Pro is a good option for most gamers and its intended to keep console gamers from migrating to PC which at its price and performance it can do.

End of the day I find it amusing how some fans claim that Sony never saw the platform as a form of direct competition

i always saw it this way which console gamers you are talking about? Andrew House said the same thing before the Pro was announced

and here we are seeing the company going with"we don't like people playing on PC, we want them locked inside our garden that we own and control".

You buy 99% of your games from Steam, there is really no difference

I know this question has probably been answered a million times, but can the PS4 Pro sacrifice the 4k upscale for a higher framerate? Is that going to be an option in any game?

So many action games are stuck at 30fps this gen and just feel sluggish by comparison with PC. A higher res won't fix that.

we have to wait up but i wouldnt be suprised if they give you this option. Also the Xbox One S has shown that games without any optimisation will improve in framerate over the normal Xbox One.

There are games like Killzone Shadowfall who offer you to have an unlocked framerate which could make the game run in 60fps singleplayer by using the PS4 Pro, a lot of games could run at a stable 30fps like The Evil Within or Fallout 4 on pro without any Patches

I've seen it on this forum for months as well as around Dtoid for the past 3.

Actually I don't, I buy games through multiple vendors and on different clients. You don't really seem to understand the difference in freedom of choice here.

Reminds me of the mess that Nintendo did with the 3DS - making the New 3DS.

Minor improvements that arent worth getting for if you already have a platform that plays the same games.

I still don't understand why PS4 Pro has recieved so much attention. It's just a new PS4. It's like the New 3DS.

Well, there is a difference:

How many games of the whole 3DS library (current library + future titles) will take advantage of the extra power of the n3DS? 5%? Probably even less.

On PS4 Pro the percentage of PS4-games taking  advantage of the extra power will be much higher: probably most new PS4 of the next 3 - 5 years plus many PS4 games already available. When the PS5 arrives, probably over 50% of the whole PS4 library (current library + future titles) will look/perform better on the Pro model than on the standard model... some games will only have minor differences, others will have bigger differences.

And on PC over 90% of the PC-library of a decade will take advantage of the extra power and will look/perform better when you replace the graphic card with a newer model twice as fast... only a few games have fixed resolutions or are already maxed out in every possible way with no space for further improvements due to more GPU-power.
