Ah, the Nokia N-Gage, long time no see! I'm sorry, but I think this looks worthless at best.

Looks really expensive with the two screens and i hate the Shoulder button placement on the screen. i can't imagine it being easy to play or get used to.
What Sony needs to do is put nfc on their controllers and sell a gadget that allows you to add your mobile via to a revised DS4.
Meh, way better concept would just be slide out physical keyboard model,
developed for optimal physical feedback, i.e. what that potential market would love.
Within the over-all body structure suitable to slide-out keyboard, the keyboard unit
can be modular and hot-swappable for a physical controller interface,
including d-pad, buttons, and analog-stick replacement,
again focusing on optimum physical experience, to emphasize it's strengths vs. touchscreen.
There could be other concepts which could also be implemented as modular units,
let's say a braille/keyboard combo interface for the blind, or high(er) quality speaker for music/etc.
All those modules could be compatable within same body structure, while Sony could sell
various SKUs which just come with one or the other module type included...
(potentially the rarer modules would only be sold as add-on/upgrades to one of base SKUs)

My thoughts exactly. We need physical buttons
I would dig this phone... a second screen that can be anything and play almost like a portable would be very good.

because with a second screen it can morph to any type of controler setup or keyboard you want.

Sounds amazing and looks very cool!
Sony is definitely one of my favorite smartphone developers! Makes me really sad that they are so underrated. :/
Looks good, but can some one tell me how you are going to use R1/R2/L1/L2 buttons on this thing?
I would prefer that the sliding screen is part of bigger screen. So, when you slide the screen up, there would be another screen below it and both will become one big screen. That would attract a lot of people who likes to watch movies or youtube on their mobile phones.

Sony is still a very big company indeed (nowhere near what it was of course), but to use only revenue as a measure and to mention them in the same breath as MS, Samsung, IBM and yes even Intel (elsewhere in this thread) is a bit silly. OT That would be DOA. |
Nah. It's not silly at all. Well good enough as a response to the post is was made for. And WTF is wrong with using revenue as a measure? I realize that there are other metrics to use, but it's kind of an important one. You mention Intel. Sony had higher revenue than Intel in 2015. Feel free to make a proper rankings table if you have the time/inclination. I was making a quick response on VGC.
