Forums - Nintendo - Would Pokemon Go be more successful with better graphics?

It would undoubtedly be less successful.

1) The game would take more battery power. Battery drain is already the games biggest complaint.
2) The game would cost more to produce and I don't think many more people would even buy the game creating a smaller profit margin.

3) More powerful game requires more powerful hardware.  It would narrow the amount of people even capable of playing the game.

Yeah it's stange. It wouldn't let me download initially until I activated location.

Activated location where?

Oh, in the settings.

When you swipe down on my phone from the top it usually is like this

I just clicked on the location one and accepted the message. Hope this helps.

No, it would be more successful if it wasn't so shallow. In one month, it's dropped 22% in the US because it has almost zero depth. They took one aspect of Pokemon, watered it down and fed it to the masses expecting it to be an advertisement for the real Pokemon games. But people lost their minds and made it a fad.

The good news is, Pokemon sales are up on the 3DS 200% and the 3DS is doing great for the month. So, I guess in the end, Go achieved what it set out to do.

The concept is what's selling the game to people, not the visuals. Its not like they're bad as it is, its nice to see some higher quality 3D Pokemon models for a change (sorry 3DS, but graphics aren't your strong suit)

I can't speak for anyone else, but I would love for it take advantage of my phones hardware and 1440P display.

With that said, it also doesn't need great graphics, the imagery is very simplistic so that it is more representational to make life easier for casuals.

Also got no battery issues because of it, lower-end devices who have their CPU and GPU pegged at 100% will of course have significant battery drain though.

Unlikely, because that would mean potentially less devices would be able to handle it.

Its kinda like PC gaming, the most popular games tend to be titles that work on low end specs.

Making the game more demanding to run will lead to being less successful

Is this a serious question?

I am with you on this. Never expected this many serious reactions.

So is it?

As a mobile game it doesn't need better graphics, let alone it's also a very simple game.

With the amount of battery it already drains I cant imagine how much faster it'd drain if it required more power to play the game with better graphics.

My thoughts exactly, I have no further need to read the rest of this thread.

Mobile games never really boasted for good graphics so I doubt it would have made much of a difference, except make it slower for those who have weaker phones :/
