Forums - Nintendo - MCV: NX Graphics In Between A PS3 And PS4

So its a re-skinned Wii U then.

I guess you could think of it as a souped-up Wii U where the gamepad can be taken anywhere and has the combined support of Wii U & 3DS.

This device is intriguing to me.

If it really docks easily for tv use and the controllers are comfortable I think I'm in.

Zelda looks great.  As for power, between a ps3 and ps4 could mean anything.  It could be xbox one type power with that vagueness.

l <---- Do you mean this glitch Gribble?  If not, I'll keep looking.

You're not going to get Xbox One power in a portable form factor in 2017.

A great Handheld, but a subpar home console

I was commenting on the vagueness of the statement.  I don't know what we're getting in any shape or form right now.

I am still intrigued by the concept of the rumor.

If we were talking about the next Vita, I would believe on graphics between PS3 and PS4.
A Nintendo handheld, no. Unless, it has a more powerful mode when connected to TV. But in that case, we would have two pieces sold separately.

Maybe, it depends on where the spec actually sits here. "Between PS3 and PS4" is a fairly large variance, lets hope it's at least in between the two.

I have to think at least in home/docked mode that it can run at 600+ GFLOPS at least, otherwise I don't think games like the new Sonic (also for PS4/XB1) and Dragon Quest XI could run on it at an acceptable HDTV resolution. I hope third parties start announcing more games, because if there's more PS4/XB1 ports well then it must be able to handle ports from those systems even if they're likely not 100% on par.

I guess that's a little bit optimistic.

If they say it's between PS3 and PS4, it will not compete for PS4/XB1 ports. Nintendo is subpar since the Wii, and since then it was proven that 3rd parties (with a few exceptions) do not sell well on Nintendo's consoles. Even the Wii U (allegedly more powerful than PS360) could not secure that support.

More like a "Reversed" Wii U.

The Wii U would house all it's processing in the stationary home device.
The Wii U would stream the game to the handheld.

The NX would house all it's processing in the mobile device.
The NX would stream the game to the stationary home device and display it on the TV. (Hopefully wirelessly and/or physically to recharge.)

With graphics capabilities less than the Xbox One which has copped so much ridicule for being under powered.

What kind of Gflop?

No one would be ridiculing the XBox One for being underpowered if it was a tablet you could carry around anywhere with you, instead of something the size of a 1980s VCR.

If the NX can plausibly run current generation games in a portable form factor, that is honestly the most impressive piece of video game hardware of the last 10 years fairly easily.

It's got nothing on the current generation.
Expect most games to be touched-up last generation ports rather than dumbed down current-gen... Provided it even gets any ports if the Wii and Wii U were anything to go by.

The NX will get ridicule for being underpowered and it deserves it if it goes with Tegra... And don't forget, it's still expected to be displaying it's games on 70" 4k TV's which will show how limited the hardware truly is next to Scorpio, Neo, Xbox One, Playstation 4 and the PC.

Also, you didn't answer my question on what kind of flops you were talking about?

Yes because soooooo many people have 70" 4k tv's lol. I doubt in the next 5 years, even, if hardly anyone (% wise) has 4k tv's, let alone 70" ones).

Guys, this is still just a rumour. Remember all the rumours about its release date being holidays 2016? Lol
