Yes cause I like spending money on things that aren't a waste of time and money? $14 gets me a large pizza and some really tasty wings where I live so if the movie is likely to be shit, I would rather spend the money on something thats good...

I can still watch it on netflix eventually or yar it when it comes out but a low review score means that I have a higher chance of not liking it so yes, I do still care about reviews. (And people who value money should too)

I feel like people should only care about reviews if they are not very interested in the product in the first place.

For instance I've been looking foward to this movie so I'll ignore reviews, but for movies that I don't care I would pay more attention to some reviews.

honestly surprised butttttt from what some of the reviews seem to be saying I think it might have something to do with going PG-13 and half assed with the mood and tone. A lot of reviewers seem to indicate it starts strongly but then goes into cliches and predictable messes that are in every superhero movie.

My feelings are that they compromised what the Suicide Squad is with the lower rating. They should have went very dark and untraditional as far as superhero movies. you have a group of the world's WORST criminals working together as antiheros and its a PG-13 movie? that's pretty absurd, I mean we're talking about guys/girls who murder for fun and don't care about being politically correct or polite

I gurantee the issue with this film is the inconsistency of the crew and story. A movie about villains forced to do good that's going for the sort of tone shown in the trailers really NEEDED (in my opinion) an R rated with blood, sex, language, etc.

instead most likely what you get is a watered down crowd pleaser that never becomes believable because its main characters don't fully behave as dark as one would expect, and a plot which most likely turns a little too unrealistically positive (or unexplainably vague if its dark)

it just keeps going back to the PG-13 rating for me. This is a 'superhero' movie that to me seems to beg for an R rating so it can do what it wants without worrying about the crowd, ala Deadpool. Deadpool worked fantastically because anything was possible and nothing was holding back the humor and action. This could have used the same thing. Granted, I haven't seen it, but based on the trailers looking good one can only assume that the issue does have to do with the tone of the film (dark) not matching the plot and actions of the characters

ehrm I disagree entirely.

I was pretty excited for Batman v Superman originally but then the reviews (rightfully so) hammered it (I've watched enough clips online to know they were somewhat spot on).

Suicide Squad is probably my most anticipated film for this summer and while I probably WILL still see it, the reviews being this poor certainly are something that makes me second guess doing so.

I will point out that a lot of people originally excited for this film I think were hoping for a DARK 'superhero' movie with an R rating. The trailers give off that vibe. So I can't help but wonder if things were cut and left on the drawing board to get the PG-13.

maybe the 13 rating was done a long time ago, but I hadn't noticed.

I would argue though that ratings are possibly MORE important for people excited for a film these days when trailers can be so misleading. I mean you just can't trust a good trailer and your own hype sometimes. the studios are sneaky

This is just getting silly at this point. DC just seems incapable of putting together a film that's good and overall well made from beginning to end. From the reviews I got the picture that Suicide Squad starts out promising as it introduces the characters, but just falls flat afterwards. Hopefully Wonder Woman can turn things around for the series.

agreed. I like the DC characters and this is just becoming annoying. It really is not THAT hard to tell a good story in film. Tons of great movies come out every year. Even in the superhero genre alone we see other great films. Whether Warner Bros. is going for a unique angle or a cliche angle, one way or another they should be capable of putting something solid out.

we're talking a coherent plot, good actors, fine pacing, believable effects- its not rocket science. especially when these companies are spending in some cases 100 or 200+ million on some of these projects. at some point there becomes no excuse.

Its actually getting a bit bizarre to me that something that most people would argue was good but not great, and gave some shit to, like the "Watchmen" adaption, seems to be exponentially better than anything they're capable of producing lately.

I mean the trailer for Suicide Squad is a great indication of exactly WHAT to do- introduce some interesting funky characters who have a unique spin (in this case the whole forced antihero thing) and then have a plot about them fighting to stop some sort of threat to the planet or city where they either grow as a team or fight amongst themselves. Basically a reverse Guardians of the Galaxy (in terms of genuine antiheros). the formula shouldn't be that complicated.

Its honestly baffling how they could screw it up so bad when SOMEBODY appears to have known what they were doing for the start of the film. I will point out though that IF an issue with the film is the plot becomes a cliche predictable boring mess then that's frustrating considering when you're dealing with a bunch of CRIMINAL superheroes the route to go was obviously not to have them fight a villain in the same vain as, say, the Avengers would. You can't just carbon copy the regular superhero formula on film when dealing with a bunch of villain-heroes and expect it to be believable. On the other hand, if they did just go with cliches for the plot then you would expect at the very least a DECENT film and not rotten (as its usually not that hard to copy traditional superhero plots).

Anyway I'm rambling but it just baffles me with the amount of money and effort Warner Bros. has put into these DC movies that they can't make something decent. for gods sake they seem incapable of even doing some in the middle level of being good like "Captain America" or "Ant Man". Its just bizarre

I wouldn't say so cause money is still money. If this movie turns out to be reviewed worse than Mario Bros (I am not saying it will but as an example), anyone that would go to watch it will regret having paying a cent for it and if they are fans, that would make the entire thing even worse. Where as if they saw the reviews first, it would save them money and would make them be less salty since skipped it or waited for Netflix/rent.

Not surprised.

There's probably some bias in there. Critics didn't like BvS but the majority of viewers did.

Reviewers hated BvS and I really liked the movie so it doesn't really matter to me. Can't wait to watch it soon.

David Ayer directing. Will Smith staring. Jai Courtney also staring. Cara whatever her name as eye candy. Who in their right mind expected this to be good???

Nothing to do with DC hate, this movie just had no relent surrounding it.

I figured Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn was more eye candy than Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, but both have their appeal.
