| Darashiva said: This is just getting silly at this point. DC just seems incapable of putting together a film that's good and overall well made from beginning to end. From the reviews I got the picture that Suicide Squad starts out promising as it introduces the characters, but just falls flat afterwards. Hopefully Wonder Woman can turn things around for the series. |
agreed. I like the DC characters and this is just becoming annoying. It really is not THAT hard to tell a good story in film. Tons of great movies come out every year. Even in the superhero genre alone we see other great films. Whether Warner Bros. is going for a unique angle or a cliche angle, one way or another they should be capable of putting something solid out.
we're talking a coherent plot, good actors, fine pacing, believable effects- its not rocket science. especially when these companies are spending in some cases 100 or 200+ million on some of these projects. at some point there becomes no excuse.
Its actually getting a bit bizarre to me that something that most people would argue was good but not great, and gave some shit to, like the "Watchmen" adaption, seems to be exponentially better than anything they're capable of producing lately.
I mean the trailer for Suicide Squad is a great indication of exactly WHAT to do- introduce some interesting funky characters who have a unique spin (in this case the whole forced antihero thing) and then have a plot about them fighting to stop some sort of threat to the planet or city where they either grow as a team or fight amongst themselves. Basically a reverse Guardians of the Galaxy (in terms of genuine antiheros). the formula shouldn't be that complicated.
Its honestly baffling how they could screw it up so bad when SOMEBODY appears to have known what they were doing for the start of the film. I will point out though that IF an issue with the film is the plot becomes a cliche predictable boring mess then that's frustrating considering when you're dealing with a bunch of CRIMINAL superheroes the route to go was obviously not to have them fight a villain in the same vain as, say, the Avengers would. You can't just carbon copy the regular superhero formula on film when dealing with a bunch of villain-heroes and expect it to be believable. On the other hand, if they did just go with cliches for the plot then you would expect at the very least a DECENT film and not rotten (as its usually not that hard to copy traditional superhero plots).
Anyway I'm rambling but it just baffles me with the amount of money and effort Warner Bros. has put into these DC movies that they can't make something decent. for gods sake they seem incapable of even doing some in the middle level of being good like "Captain America" or "Ant Man". Its just bizarre
