The Grand Budapest Hotel. My brother pestered me time and time again to watch that movie. I wanted to watch it, but I didn't have any time. Bought the Blu ray, watched it and enjoyed it greatly. The presentation, the story, the humor, the usual Wes Anderson cinematography... it was really well done. And Ralph Fiennes acting was superb.
John Wick is the movie that comes to mind first.
Bet with Adamblaziken:
I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I like Frozen but after Tangled it wasn't "surprisingly good" for me, I expected it to be good. Same goes for Zootopia and Inside Out which I already expected to like when I saw the trailers (I'm more surprised that those two were mentioned by others in this thread, it seems people didn't expect much especially from Zootopia). Animation movies are the only entertaining family movies these days anyway, Hollywood is not capable anymore of producing good live action comedies or family entertainment. At least in my opinion.
Other animation movies which I found surprisingly good (besides Cloudy with Chances of Meatballs and Fantastic Mr. Fox which I mentioned earlier): Despicable Me Hotel Transylvania |
It was mostly because there were a lot of people bashing Frozen. I actually didn't see Tangled until after Frozen, I didn't even really know what Tangled was, but I was happy to see that movie was fantastic as well.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
Can't think of many because I never watch a movie that I am not really sold on from the start lol.
