Forums - General - Debate over North Carolina gender law

This law is very unfortunate. If you want to combat this world crazyness that is political correctness and radical leftism, you don't do it by introducing a wrong. Clearly people who are "transgender" (mixed gender) should be able to decide which toilet to visit.

But there isn't such a state which actually is neutral gender, but you can be of mixed gender. Genitals can be of one gender or in rare cases a weird mix (something that literally is inbetween a coc and a pusy), and at the same time the brain is predominantly of the other gender, or rarely a more even mix.

Typically these new gender identities are ideological or political in nature, not factual or biological.

You can be whatever "gender" you want. But go to your own bathroom! You know there are far greater things to worry in life...

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

I'd like to know a few things from everyone.

1) what do you think of transgenderism?

2) is gender determined by your sex?

3) are there only 2 genders?

4) With the NBA removing the all star game, is it hypocritical of them to keep the Charlotte Hornets in North carolina?

1. I believe what HylianYoshi said about this. He took the words out of my mouth in that regard XD

2. Gender and sex are 2 different things. I think some people prefer to identify people by one or the other. Which is where, I believe, all the controversy originates. Personally I go by sex, what you are genetically. But respect and will refer to a transgender people by their preferred gender. The only people I don't do that with are those people who identify with 10 different genders... which I've come across Hell I dated a girl who said she was a bisexual, gay, pansexual, omnisexual, etc person... which contridicts itself in a couple areas >~> but anyway, yeah

3. There are multiple genders but only 2 sexes.

4. No idea

Hmmmm its a rather complicated topic. In my opinion gender is determined by the sex you were born with. Its not actually a matter of belief, but a matter of biology and respect to the next one. Before you jump on me, let me explain it.

In terms of biology, this is pretty clear.Even though you made cirurgies to change from man to woman(cutting your little friend down there, taking on hormones, those kind of things) its still important that you always remember that you were born a man(or woman) and people know about this.I am not versed in medicine, but what if you have a disease which treatment is only effective with woman or only man?Or a medicine that if taken, can be beneficial for a man but prejudicial for a woman, because of the natural differences they have that which cant be taken out which surgery? So for those cases, thats always important to not change(in my honest opinion) the official documents the gender you were born into.

In terms to respect for another its more tricky to detail.Wether you agree with me or not, there are people that would get offended if, for example, a transgender entered in the opposite gender bathroom that we was born with. Its not a matter of disrespect, they simply get unconfortable. Now, if you couldnt tell transgender and the "normal" man/woman apart, I think there wouldnt be any issue. So which "right" should be protected? Its a tricky situation. And creating a bathroom just for transgenders is a bit silly in my opinion. It would be a better solution just to make an extra all-gender bathroom that is individual so that they have the bathroom for themselves, but anyone can use it if its free.

As I said, its a delicate topic.I personally dont mind either way, as long as the transgender behaves in the bathroom, but that goes for anyone really. As for the person that wants to do it, I also dont have a problem with it.I judge a person by who they are, not by the societies values.

Actually yes. It matters what your sex is during an organ transplant. For example, if youre a transgender female recieving a female organ from a donar that was female -the likelihood of your body rejecting the organ (in some cases causing death) are increased. That's important for any transgender person to know, when getting an organ transplant always try to get a donar that is the same sex as your original gender. It makes the surgery safer and the rate of success much higher.

This law is dumb in so many levels. I understand what they are trying to do, but I don't think many women will more be comfortable sharing a restroom with a trans man than with a trans woman.

1. I have nothing against the transgendered and I am all for moving past the stigmas surrounding them.

2. Maybe?  It depends how gender and sex are defined, also if those definitions are accurate.  Growing up on Star Trek, I've come to look at the scientific defintion of "life" as antiquated and arbitrarily restrictive; perhaps the same could be said of sex/gender.

3. No.  Or, to clarify, one doesn't have to belong to one sex or gender exclusively; there are many who are born with the sex organs of both genders or possess them ambiguously.  On a base, biological level, humans can naturally defy the expected male/female identity.  Some organizations consider the overlap of the two to be a third gender in of itself, but at the very least, lumping someone in one category over the other is demonstrably denying part of their nature.

4. I'm not sure if it's hypocritical to keep the team in Charlotte; even if they wanted to move them elsewhere, I am sure that the process would be long, complicated and involve many hungry lawyers.  North Carolina does seem to trying to go full Big Brother on the issue, though.  I wonder how someone can rant against Big Government and support crap like this at the same time.

Good thread!

Can someone explain to me the difference between sex and gender? If I'm not mistaken, sex basically just refers to your physical genitals and genetics (ie. whoch combination of X and Y chromosomes you have), while gender refers to your mind.

If someone is transgender, are they actually transsex, or are they transgender? If it's the latter, and my understanding of gender is correct, then it seems more like people being transgender is (at least partially) due to arbitrary gender roles that have been baked into society; "boys like cars and videogames", "girls like dolls", "blue is a boy colour" etc. When people's sex then don't fit with society's arbitrary gender roles, this leads to things like "oh, she likes video games, she's a boyish girl", which makes people born with whatever sex feel like they don't fit in with the sex they were born in, when in reality, there's nothing to "fit into". Gender roles are completely arbitrary and pointless. Girls can like the same things as boys and vice versa. Gender sounds like an outdated and useless concept.

Transgenderism is a phenomenon that has arisen due to arbitrary, useless and outdated gender roles and stereotypes in society.

1. Have zero issues with it. It in no way effects my qaulity of life. People should be free to do what ever makes them happy as long as it doesn't hurt others.

2. Gender is psychological, Sex is physical, so no.

3. Yes

4. I'm sure that's something that would take a ton of time and money make happen. Not as easy as removing a single game.

I don't believe in gender. I don't view hair length, boobs, wearing a skirt, wearing jeans, etc make you a woman/man. Most of that just stems from the same problems with society where society thinks that women are for cleaning and cooking. I think it's junk. If a guy wants to have long hair, and get a boob job, wear a skirt, that's his business and he's free to do that without label in my opinion.

When it comes to bathroom stuff, pretty much this:

Makes no difference to me. All I can say is, you should go the the rest room where you fit in. If I look like a woman, then I can go in a women's restroom. If they spot me in there and kick me out? Then I didn't deserve to be in the women's restroom. In which case, man up and go to the men's room!

The problem with the law is that certain people going into their birth bathrooms is going to cause a much bigger ruckus.

For example, this guy would have to use the lady's bathroom.

How do you think people are going to react to this guy in the ladies bathroom?  Cops are called, and this ends up creating a gigantic problem.  Basically the law does nothing positive, and creates gigantic problems.

There is a guy with a camera out in the bathroom and the cops are called... and you think the law is the one creating the problem here and not the one with the camera out in the bathroom? I wouldn't give a rats if that was inside the mens bathroom with little boys around and he had that camera out I'd be calling the cops or smashing his phone off the ground, this really isn't a gender issue in the slightest, it's a "don't fucking take out a camera in a restroom" thing.

As for the questions going to just answer it all in a single go, I think people are free to change their gender if they feel like they want to do that, I do not think parents should do this to their children, most certainly not before they've full developed through puberty and been allowed to grow as the gender they were born, this for me is where authorities should step in to ensure children are not led into life altering choices when they're not capable of making such important choices (if you think a child is able to make a choice regarding what they do with their genitalia when they are pre pubesent then do you also believe that sex with minors is fine? Just because little jimmy watches frozen and enjoys dancing like the main character, does not mean little jimmy wants to become Jimmet, it means he watched a kids movie with a catchy soundtrack)

There are 2 genders, you can cut it off, but you still don't get a womb or you can stick something on there but it still can't impregant a woman, or was this question regarding attack helicopters?

As for the NBA? Don't really care about them since NBA Live on the Megadrive, that was a good game... you could play as an actual Hornet in it, good times.
