1. I believe what HylianYoshi said about this. He took the words out of my mouth in that regard XD
2. Gender and sex are 2 different things. I think some people prefer to identify people by one or the other. Which is where, I believe, all the controversy originates. Personally I go by sex, what you are genetically. But respect and will refer to a transgender people by their preferred gender. The only people I don't do that with are those people who identify with 10 different genders... which I've come across 
Hell I dated a girl who said she was a bisexual, gay, pansexual, omnisexual, etc person... which contridicts itself in a couple areas >~> but anyway, yeah
3. There are multiple genders but only 2 sexes.
4. No idea
