So Apple doesn't help the Government in regards to terrorists but helps the Feds bust this guy by handing over his information? So of course help out in the part that hits their pockets the most. Cool story Apple, no surprise where that companies priorities are.

The day a man goes away for life or gets a much harsher punishment than one who ends the life of another is the time that the law system is borked to fuck. I've seen people who had done weed who ended up going away for a longer time than someone who tried to murder someone, the law is just fucked at this point, no arguing sentences and the like. Hell there are people that have murdered multiple people and have managed to get out of jail within their lifetime, that's just completely fucked up.

The site may be seized but it still won't stop other sites from popping up. You cannot stop file sharing and you cannot stop piracy.

No, but you can render it down to the point where it's causing insignificant damage which is what everyone wants. Even in the 80's, before the internet was a thing in people's homes, there was bootlegging and things of that nature. But when the internet took hold, it got out of hand because it became too easy and too convenient. Just look at the entire fucking music industry. Back in the 90's labels were signing bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam... real artists. Now, thanks to the wonderful internet pirates, we all have nothing but manufactured GARBAGE on the top 10. 

As long as they can shrink this shit back down to the levels of the 90's, everyone will be happy.

We aren't everyone though. File sharing being elimated isn't what everyone wants at all. It's not what I want as well as others.

Piracy itself has gone on for centuries and hasn't been "shrunk" to a point where it's not been much of a bother. It's going to continue existing for many more decades if not centuries to come.

I....think I was aware of this site. I haven't used a torrent site since 2009, and even then, it was all for pornography, so it doesn't count.

Switzerland has it right, in which people are allowed to pirate. You want to know why? Because it has been proven that pirating doesn't actually harm musicians or game developers or movie producers at all. If people are pirating a movie or game, what are the chances they'll buy it if that is taken away? And what if a game is long gone and pirating it is the only way to play it again? I only pirate if there is no alternative option, like if a certain TV I want to watch isn't available on Netflix.

But this is leftist bullshit.

It's well known that when illegal download came and when Napster and Kazaa came, people started to download most of their music instead of buying CDs. And the album sales collapsed. Later with DC++ and Piratebay people did the same with movies, later came illgal movie streaming sites, and now DVD and Blu-ray sales have collapsed completely.

Only in recent years has the entrance of convenient streaming services started to compensate for the lost album sales, and the music industry revenue to recover, but only to some extent.

But in the movie industry, they rely sooooo much on movie ticket sales now. They don't get nearly as much from the revenue streams outside of movie tickets like they did ten years ago.

In heavy metal it's well known that artists can only make money through touring nowadays. But not all artists tour, so piracy is very evil against those guys.

And one only has to go to oneself and realize how piracy affects your buying habits. Since Napster and DC++ and torrents came I haven't bought a single album and not a single movie.

Steam is a good service so with my PC hobby I buy games, also because I want to support game developers.

But with music and movies I don't care as much, since even our politicians in Sweden said it is okay to pirate, so I pirate. I pirate music and film. I don't feel any compassion towards musicians and movie makers while gaming is a different story.

But obviously I would buy a lot of this stuff if I couldn't pirate it, just like I did before these piracy sites came up. Now I'm just doing something else with that money like buying alcohol, but the movie and music guys definitely aren't getting my money.

i agree, they also except Ukrainians to pay half of their monthly income on the latest Blue Ray. Not everyone is as rich as people in the US.

This is another reason why i only buy Japanese games, you dont see japanese companies going agressivaly after their illegal obtained stuff.

So why i dont see Japanese companies sending their Ninjas to shut down servers? Their stuff like Retro games, Anime, Manga gets priaretd frequantley even on YouTube
