Forums - Politics Discussion - Melania Trump Plagiarizes Michelle Obama's Speech

Aside from the speech from last night I'm guessing most of what you guys are posting is fake. I mean, I'm no Trump supporter but I hate when people debate using made up stuff.

After some quick research, at least for the image I posted, it would appear you are correct. OH well, I suppose it was to fun to be true. But she really did have a rick roll in her speech, that part is legit

Sure if you want to get into the semantics of the word plagiarism and its practical application here.  However, doesn't change the fact that it is rather pathetic that someone making a speech about someone trying to run for the most important position in his country, and arguably the world, is ripping off words from someone who was doing the exact same thing eight years ago.

Are you serious? The wife of a canidate that copies other's words because she likes 'em versus a canidate who lies constantly. Which one is worse? Which one is the greater issue when selecting a canidate for the US presidency?

You do know that someone can have an opinion on a specific situation that doesn't relate to their opinion on a completely different situation right?

I can believe that it is wrong for someone to steal someone else's speech without having to think "but is this candidate worthy?" at the same time.

Looks like two women giving extremely generic speeches with slightly different words.

Michelle will always be the best and most beautiful first lady of all time. Who wouldn't wannna copy her?

Both speeches are horrible...mainly meant to provide a false sense of hope for the mindless.

I recall when real leaders said the truth and never sugar coated anything. Then again, most of the real leaders end up being killed.

wow, how old are you ? 20,000 years give or take?

Exactly. It's hilarous how some are acting over this.

They're not "similar words", that's plagarism, the campaign should just admit they fucked up and move on from the issue, but they're too prideful to do that, which does say something.

It's also pretty hilarious how people think that two generic speeches about the same thing coincidentally have almost the exact same words. Some sections were literally ad verbatim the same. Regardless of how generic the speeches are, the odds of that happening randomly are smaller than winning the lottery.

We've had presentations at school where 27 different students had to make a presentation about a much narrower subject than this, and none sounded as similar to eachother as this. But yeah yeah, it was totally a coincidence.

I mean, how big of an issue this is is one thing, but you have to at least admit that the odds that this was a coincidence as opposed to copying a part of Michelle's speech are tiny.

At least it suggests that she actually wrote it to some extent. If it wasn't for this I would have assumed someone else had pretty much written the whole thing for her.

She didn't change it enough and was naive. However, as I saw her as the mindless bimbo wife of Donald Trump, this whole situation, if anything, actually makes her look a little better in my eye.
