Well there's your third party support from Nintendo. Be happy!

I am sure we will get more. Can't say that i enjoy it as much as i enjoy playing with my Nintendo systems but having a Nintendo game on your phone is very convenient.

Yeah, there will be more, but not in the same vein as their games on traditional consoles. Their IPs will be fully adapted to the smartphones controls and to mass consumption, like Pokemon GO for example.

So, not like some people are thinking

We shall see. They did say that we will get some paid apps, so not everything will be F2P. If, for example, we get Super Mario Bros Go for 9.99 with 30 courses, this will be in the same vein as their games on traditional consoles. In a smaller scope, of course.

Jeebus. Buy a Nintendo console if you want Nintendo games. You don't see me begging Sony to go 3rd party so I can play knack.

Well to be honest, Nintendo's library of first party titles destroys every other companies first party software. The only exception may have been Sega, unfortunately we know how that went (Phantasy Star, Skies Of Arcadia, Panzer Dragoon, Shemnue, Virtua Fighter, Sonic Adventure, Virtual On, Yakuza, and they would have Platinum and Atlus if they stated in the console business, the list honestly goes on and on).

Exactly. You'll get cell phone games too. Pretty much every barrier to Nintendo games for most people have officially been brought down.

I'm loving these poll results. The OP has been eating too much candy it seems.

The mini NES is quite exemplar.
You have a bunch 30 years old games no one cared about until yesterday. Games that have been virtually avaliable for years and free of charge on any toaster with a CPU to emulate them.
Put those in games in a small console that's specifically designed and branded for them, charge 60$, and you have sold-outs on Amazon.
What does this tell about Nintento being better of as a 3rd party?

I doubt that, the controls will pollute the small screen of the smartphone. And the price is extremely expensive, you don't really expect that your average candy crush player will spend 10 bucks in a game with limited gaming time.

I am thinking in something like a mix of temple run with flappy bird mechanics (automatic run), of course maintaining the level design, mario animations and everything that make visually identical to Super Mario bros. They'll charge 0.99$. Instant success.

The funny thing is that Nintendo's stock price is rising astronomically based primarily on the assumption that they're going to do just as the OP said, to a certain point, and become more a software company than a hardware company, designing games primarily for mobile and only tinkering with their own consoles if they really feel the need for it.

I have a really hard time seeing Nintendo change their current plans, however, and I see that clashing with investors soon if Pokemon Go ends up making less money than many have assumed. It's going to be interesting to see whether Nintendo stays strong with the path they're currently taking, as in focusing most of their efforts on consoles while allowing other developers to assist them to bringing their properties to mobile, or if they will react more heavily to the fervor surrounding their company and its perceived willingness to shift its business model into one more focused on software than their own hardware.

Um, what prevents Nintendo from continuing their dedicated hardware business while also developing titles that take full advantage of features only mobile phones provide? Nothing? Oh, carry on then.
