Deadline admits that antagonizing fans of a franchise was a mistake by Sony:

Glad the film bombed.

Yeah this turnig into a franchise is probably not going to happen unless they want to risk loosing even more money.  Talking about sequels before a movie is even released is never a good idea.  They kinda announced that the Jungle Book would get a sequel kinda soon but that movie actually did great at the box office.

I'm hoping it will get nominated for a ton of Razzie awards.

Gawd, some of the people getting all up-in-arms about this movie really need to get out of the house more.

From what I saw on Twitter yesterday, it's just sexism and racism speaking out loud again.

Have you even seen it once?

Nope, but its pretty easy to tell if someone is completly honest in their review of a movie and Angry Joe was completly honest in his and it wasn't a short one either since its almost 30 minutes long.  He is not hating on it just to be hating on it he gave solid reasons why the movie sucked.  Anyway the movies problem started long before the two terrible trailers for it where released.  It almost had as many production problems as last years Fantastic Four movie.  But at least 20th Century Fox didn't release fake reviews for that movie to boost its box office performance.

And I'll be honest with you -- there's no fucking way this is a 2/10 movie.

It's a 6/10 movie, about the same as Ghostbusters II. Multiple people who have actually seen the movie on this board have said basically the same thing I have, yet you guys who haven't seen the film think you know better.

It's not a great film, but it's not *that* bad either. The script is the main problem with the film, not the casting, not the special effects, not even the humor really.

There are easily 5-6 big budget summer movies already released that are a good deal worse.

Red Letter Media would also disagree with you and have some very solid points as well.

I think you probably need to rewatch it a couple of times before you realize how bad it actually is.  People that say that it is a okay movie are not being honest with themselves.  The movie has plot holes, the jokes are lame, its sexist towards man, the main villain is very weak, the CGI isn't that good, the overall script isn't very good, its poorly shot (not very cinematic), it has way to many jump cuts etc etc.  If you want a professional opinon read Richard Ropers review he explains it in detail why it is a hot mess if you want a fan of the franchises perspective watch Angry Joe's review.

The film isn't great, but It isn't bad either. As someone doing a master in Film Theory I can't tell you that Soundwave is right. There were worse big summer movies released this year. No one is saying that the film is amazing, people are just saying that isn't bad. There is nothing wrong with that. If you need to watch a film a couple of times to realize how bad it's , then that just proves that the film isn't bad at all.

I don't need to watch it 5 times, I took film studies for two years, I don't need to see a movie several times to know if its crap or not.

The 3D is quite impressive, the CGI is overdone at times but it's Ghostbusters the ghosts were never intended to look real. By the way there is one sequence in the film where the ghosts are bit more real, and it gets maybe bit scarier than a Ghostbusters film should be.

Richard Roeper and Angry Joe can have their opinions, that doesn't mean they invalidate everyone elses. Richard Roeper by the way liked Transformers, which is a steaming pile of shit as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather watch this Ghostbusters movie three times in a row than watch that crap, so it's not like his opinions are some holy decree, he has weird ratings for a lot of films.

If this is a 2/10 movie, then 70% of what's been released this summer is 1/10 or worse. It isn't sexist towards men unless you are so freaking sensitive about everything little thing, quite frankly the first Ghostbusters is probably more sexist when Murray says "lets show this bitch how we do things in downtown" or whatever that line was. Neither film has much of an agenda.

Again, maybe you should just watch the movie, and there's a chance you'll hate it, but I mean it's kind of ridiculous to have like 50 posts about about a movie you've never even seen. I don't think you can have an opinion on a film, or really any kind of informed opinion on a film if you haven't seen it.

Most of the people who have actually seen the film on this board have said it's OK, nothing special, but not terrible either, just a middle of the pack popcorn movie. And I'd agree with that assessment. And fuck no, did Sony pay me anything, I'm not Sony fanboy, I wouldn't mind seeing them crushed under Nintendo's boot, so quite the opposite (also every Sony movie being a freaking commercial for Sony products is annoying, not to mention wildly unrealistic). Seeing Nintendo's stock overtake Sony's actually made my day yesterday, lol.

Wow. People who haven't seen the movie and continue to insist the movie is bad couldn't get any more pathetic at this point. Stop trolling.

Selectively choosing reviewers to prove your point wouldn't fly with the mods here if we were talking about Uncharted or any other video game that was positively received, in fact, you would be banned for trolling and constant downplaying, and I freaking HATE uncharted. Go ahead and do the same in one of the many metacrtic threads we have here, and tell us how, a game you never played and that got reviewed positively on metacritic, actually sucked, and I promise you will get banned for trolling.

I watched the original ghostbusters movie once and I could easily tell it's one of the most ever rated average movies I've ever seen. If I watch it 5 times I'd throw up. The fact that the reboot is being positively reviewed despite the templates it's supposed to mimic tells you just as much, you should know by now that the movie just hasn't aged well. So I have to ask for the 10th time, why are you so pathetically butthurt?

Not to mention, the Ghostbusters' alleged untouchable legacy was already cheapened with the 1989 sequel. Get.Over.It.
