PS2 by this point had sold nearly 60 million units, that's around 50% higher than PS4. So no, PS4 is doing nowhere near as good as PS2.

At this point PS2 was 18 months into $100 pricedrop and was retailing for $199. PS4 cost $50 less than what it did at launch and is retailing for $350 which is $50 more than what the PS2 even launched at.

And to OP. What exactky are you seeing that indicates that consoles need saving? This is just the 6th gen all over again. PS2 dominating, xbox holding its own and Gamecube failing. Only difference now is that the Xbox is doing better than it evee did and nintendo did worse than it ever did.

PlayStation 2 - 157.68M

Xbox - 24.65M

Gamecube - 21.74M

You're saying that Xbox held its own against PS2 and Gamecube failed, even though there's less than a 3M difference between those two whereas the PS2 sold THREE TIMES MORE than BOTH consoles COMBINED? If Gamecube was a failure, so was OG Xbox.

A total Donal Trump move.... "I'm hearing that the PS2 is 20 million units ahead of the PS4.  I have sources"

Welcome to the internet.  But seriously, you are dead wrong.  PS4 is still ahead.

To the OP... I think we have to keep supporting PlayStation and Nintendo consoles.  I would say Xbox as well, but its just a Windows 10 PC now so I think it should be classified as PC.

You could argue it. 50% of the PS4 userbase doesn't have PS+. So it's even.

Right, but most of the people we see complaining about it are PC gamers cherry-picking reasons not to buy a console, so I don't believe that's a lost sale since they obviously just don't want one.

50% playing online is a great adaption rate.

Many people aren't into online gaming, even if they would get paid for it. I doubt that 50% of the PS3 gamers played online although it was free.

Probably less than 20% of the Wii gamers and 6th gen gamers even connected their consoles with the internet.

Just because it's game are on PC doesn't mean it isn't a console. The Xbox One is as much a console now as it was when it launched. I can't plug in a mouse and keyboard and go download photoshop, hell it can't even make text documents. What sort of "PC" is that? xD

It's not a Windows 10 PC, it doesn't run windows.

Consoles are doing okay. Well, especially the one. Other avenues of gaming are cutting into the market, sure, but the need for an easy to play box will always be there.

Xbox was a brand new console, and it outsold a veteran platform in its debut year. That Cannot be considered a failure.

GC was the 4th console from nintendo, and didnt sell as well as the N64 and even sold less than a newcomer in the xbox. That to me is a failure. Its not just about numbers.

Then now this gen, PS4 is the best selling playstation console in aonys history to date, Xbox one is the best selling ever Xbox console to date and the wiiU is the worst sellimg nintendo console to date.

Things are fine. The last gen was artifically expanded by casual gamers, and now we're seeing it settle to normal numbers.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

It is powered by Windows 10.  This is a fact.  It runs Windows 10.  The reason I do make a distinction is because the windows 10 machines share the same library.  So, wouldn't it be silly to say that when it comes to gameing there is anything more than personal preference.  From Microsoft's perspective, if everyone moved to a Windows 10 PC and stopped buying Xbox, they would have nothing to lose so we need to refer to consoles that have a vested interest in actually saving consoles.

That kind of mentality is what brought us the 2013 version of the XB1. Food for thought.

Royalties for third party games? Money from XBL Gold subscriptions? A digital store without dozens alternatives on the same platform?
