Forums - Gaming - Why did everyone hate watch dogs?

It was ok. I never finished it though.

I got sucked into the hype and pre ordered the collectors edition for $130 AUD. So between the graphics downgrade and it turning out to be "just OK" I felt kinda ripped. If I'd spent $70 like a normal person then I'm pretty sure my opinion would be different. It's not a bad game really.

I really enjoyed The Order. I think maybe because I got it free I wasn't worried the whole time if I'd got value for money.

Was it hated that much? I can't remember it getting that much hate other than about the visual downgrade.

For me it was a decent first entry for a new IP.

It wasn't awful, but it was pretty bland. The hacking mechanics were button presses and tiny mini-games. The gameplay itself was clunky and at times way off, and the graphics were considerably downgraded.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Because it sucked.

It was bland with a peculiarly awful soundtrack, but I enjoyed it enough to get most of the offline trophies, eventually rage quitting over the drinking game. (Hate it when an oddball minigame is way tougher than anything in the regular game.)

Then I played GTA5 and remembered how it's done proper, and have no desire to even look at WD2.

I loved it, actually. It's probably my favorite Ubisoft game, and I do like their games. Downgrade doesn't bother me that much.

But the end of Watch Dogs hit me in the feels just saying.

Very excited for Watch Dogs 2

I played in succession GTA V, thought it was OK, then Sleeping Dogs and loved it, and then Watch Dogs - I managed to play it for 1 afternoon or so, thought it was boring and never came back to it.

I liked it. It was a fresh take on the GTA style sandbox shooter. Plus Clara was smoking hot.

Because it was practically the dicitonary definition of mediocrity.

Much like its painfully bland protagonist, the whole thing had all the personality of a cardboard box left out in the rain. Boring world, boring characters, boring missions, boring mechanics, boring everything.
