Forums - Gaming Discussion - Have you ever stopped playing a game for a reason related to the storyline?

A bug chunk of gamers believe that a story can enhance the gaming experience. If the storyline can have such a big impact in the gaming experience, I wonder, could it impact it in such a negative way that makes someone decide to stop playing altogether?

1) It could be that you didn't like the story so you stopped playing what would otherwise be, at least, a nice gaming experience.

2) It could be that something hit you in a specific way that made you decide not to go on playing and perhaps continue the story.

Has something in those lines ever happened to some of you?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Life is Strange emotionally crippled me for days, I finished it but after playing it I knew I would never put myself through it again.

Man, you make a lot of threads that at the core, are basically the same thing: List something. You make so many at a time as well. Chill out.

But to answer OP, No, but Grandia 3 had me come very close.

Only if the game is bad.And yes, that includes bad storytelling. But only if the overall game is bad.

Stop playing a game because you felt insulted because of something it said is stupid.I mean, usually if you dont like the games theme and all, you should not buy the game in the first place, since that part will be explicit in the game overview/reviews.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Only one comes to mind: Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2. The first one was awesome. But LoS2's story was weak and so annoying and basically ruined the character that is no surprise it killed the franchise as a whole. FU Konami.

yes, i only play videogames for story
if i don't like,don't play

No, if I quit a game it's always because of gameplay reasons. The story usually isn't important enough to make me stop permanently if the gameplay is fun, even if said story is boring as sh*t. A good story does definitely help make a game better though.

Star Ocean 4 attacked my brain.
