Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Phill Spencer Denies Rumors of Xbox Brand Leaving the Console Market!

Around the Network

Someone believed they would leave the console market? It wouldt make sense if they weren't investing in a new Slim Xbox One model and the Scorpio thingy, but otherwise...

They're eventually going to leave.

It's just not going to be in the traditional way.

The Xbox is going to be absorbed into Windows 10 and/or Windows 11. It's already happening with all the games working on both platforms. Microsofts actions speak louder than Phil Spencers words on this.

I LOVE ICELAND!

He wouldn't be honest about something like that. To be fair, none of the big 3 would admit that they were leaving the console market when they had hardware in the current gen. It would destroy their hardware and software sales.

Why not? SEGA did it and they're still fine up to this day, producing some nice software.

Now ask him if he'd consider the Scorpio to be a PC ...

Because it would hurt the sales of the hardware and software they have invested in the current gen. It would be better to wait til the end of a gen to announce something like that. For example, if the NX sold like the wii u and nintendo decided they would go 3rd party after that gen. Do you think they would announce that decision as soon they came to it or wait towards the end of the gen to annouce it so they could profit as much as possible off of the nx and it's games?

Their actions... Like announcing two consoles?

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Fair enough, but it also depends on how you advertise it. Collectors and scalpers would make things go through the roof if announced the console would be the last and stock is ceasing.
