I'm trying to figure out if the Windows 10 store is trying to sell Xbox software to PC gamers or sell Xboxs to PC gamers. The store is a mess, so it's probably better just to pick up an Xbox One....

Threads like these and all the people agreeing with it just shows how full of themselves a lot of people here are. You guys really think you know the market that well that you can predict something like this without knowing anything? Confirmation bias is probably making you guys think you know more than you do, but I can guarantee that almost none of you actually know how the market would respond to a product none of you know nothing about except that Nintendo made it. Track records mean nothing when the data you're going on isn't even 100% consistent.

If the rumors are true and it isn't even on the level of the PS4, then yes, it will be DOA. It'll sell like the Wii U and could possibly be the last Nintendo console. Why? Because the core gamers aren't interested in a console that will be weaker than what they have now AND will be greatly underpowered once the Neo and Scorpio comes out. There's also the fact that 3rd party support won't be as strong as the others. We already have evidence of that in the fact that Ubisoft announced the first game they are making for it is Just Dance.

Nintendo just seems to be more interested in capturing the casual crowd they did with the Wii, which won't happen again, then making a real effort to capture the core market, the one still buying consoles.

I agree with the OP.  I am into console gaming for over a decade so I think I can predict things with enough tips. 

Thanks to PS4k and Scorpio, NX instead on arrival in the market will become outdated day1. 

Be serious - what else Nintendo can does now ? They cant counter 4k, they cant counter VR, esport, multitaski OS etc etc. They cant counter shitloads of AAA multiplats and some really good exclusives. They will not produce 10 AAA exclusives a year because NX.

Fuck, their games lose sales because they are Nintendo console only.

Unless thats a joke, I will say that yes. Nintendo absofuckinglutely has a say in who buys their console. And the say begins from what the console is to begin with. 

Just look at it this way, if nintendo had made a PS4/XB1, with all its games at 1080p too and got at least half of all the major third party releases on its console too (just half not even all)..... they would have sold significantly more wiiUs than they did. 

The absolutely ridiculous thing about nintendo topics, is that there are some that seem to sound as if they are saying its not nintendos fault that nintendo is failing. Thats just crazy. 

So I guess you should work for those companies so you can 100% lead all gaming companies to success, because you can see any idea and tell them that it will succeed or fail.   

This is just the regular XXXth Nintendo bashing thread, only purpose is to badmouth Nintendo & generate hate towards the company. How on earth can one say that a product is dead on arrival when no one knows the slightest thing about it, not even it's name... bad faith is the main ingredient in this nauseating thread. In my opinion, even if Wii U had all of the multis that PS4 and X1 got it would've still sold the least. I believe Nintendo's time is gone and people already have a very set mindset of what a console is supposed to be. They have a serious image problem. Their consoles aren't seen as serious consoles but just Nintendo games boxes. Nintendo isn't cool. Look to which demographics Sony and MS are pandering. Those people wouldn't want to be caught dead with a Nintendo console.

It wouldn't be enough for Nintendo to just make a PS4 with Nintendo games. They are coming from far far behind, they need to have a killer app that has a chance to capture people outside of Sony's scope. Sony currently has VR, PS Neo and a really strong exclusive lineup. For the NX(assuming it's not a console/handheld combo) to beat that it would need something that is better than all of Sony's offerings combined.

You seem to be ignoring the possibility of a unified platform that merges the console & handheld lines. It varies slightly by region but according to the latest fiscal results, 3DS+Wii U have about 550-600 retail releases, when including digital only software and virtual console releases, they have well over 1000 individual titles released for them and growing, hard to say that is lacking content.
