Tagged games:

World of warcraft has been dummed down too much, overtime. Its not as good as it used to be.
Diablo III got dummed down from what diablo II was, its a much worse game than the 2nd.
Heroes of the storm is a crappy moba (its sucky compaired to dota or league).

Overwatch... seems to be everyones love affair atm though.

Hmm. That's an interesting and convincing case you lay out in the OP. And the comparison to Rare makes sense - being able to master several different genres isn't easy.

I still need to play some of the games listed in the OP but right now I'd feel comfortable ranking Blizzard in a second tier with developers like Epic Games, Naughty Dog, and Valve.

Warcraft took an embarrassingly large portion of my life when I was younger.  Not the MMO but the real Warcraft :).  However, it may not hold up well.

l <---- Do you mean this glitch Gribble?  If not, I'll keep looking.

Now that I think about it, yes. There is no other developer who completely dominates so many genres.

They dominate RTS with Starcraft, they still dominate MMORPGs with WoW, they dominate card games with Hearthstone and now they're gonna dominate the Hero Shooter genre with Overwatch. There is no other developer with so much success across the board.

And people have to start admitting that it's not just hype but because their games are well designed and highly polished.

Nintendo.

Casual racing (MK!), 2D platforming (multiple titles - Mario, DK, etc.), 3D platforming (Mario Galaxy!), casual sports - they've invented it. Pretty much all party games except for Dancing ones are belong to Ninty. Zelda dominates its genre, so do Pokemons. N dominates the turn strategy genre with their 3DS titles. The list is quite long Professor Layton dominates the puzzle genre, Tomodachi Life and Animal Crossing have to dominate something

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Blizzard is the best to me exactly because they are "always" good and that in different genres.

After that I would say Naughty Dog, Bethesda (yes) and Valve (at least the games they released, if they will release some other game in the future it will be probably also great)

Rockstar is also good but I'm not a huge fan of them. I like GTA and so on but I can also live without their games (except maybe Red Dead)

I really want to play the original Warcraft games but I can't seem to find them anywhere. Is there an inexpensive, legal way to play them?

Well yeah, it's easy to dominate dead or unpopular sub genres. And I fail to understand what genres Zelda is supposed to dominate. Zelda like games?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Professor Layton is by Level 5, not Nintendo.

Well good news and bad news. On Battle.net theres an option to download some of there classic games like Warcraft 3, Starcraft and Diablo 2 etc. Bad news is i didnt see the classic Warcraft 1 or 2 yet. I believe there coming soon.

Not a huge fan of their games but I can respect them.

One of my favourite gaming companies. Play all their games except WOW.
