Forums - Gaming - Rock Band 4 Flops HUGE, Publisher Taking a Loss

I just want to point out that Mad Catz is not the publisher of Rock Band, but they have a deal for the Instruments. Which puts them in a even bigger disatavantage, because they have to try and sell all their worthless stock before their contract runs out or they won't be allowed to sell them any more.

Im sure Mad catz published the game too. It's plastered all over the game box. Harmonix dont self publish physical software that I am aware of?

Rock Band was never a big seller, even when the genre was at its prime.

Not true, first game sold over 7 million units. Those are sales many IPs would love to have.

Anywho, shame they made so much hardware. Sounds like they didn't get the memo the genre has become niche.

Good sales for a new IP and yet it's still not a big seller. Especially when none of the sequels could beat it.

Is Rock Band 4 worth it? I can get the entire instrument set and game for 90 euro. I loved these games on PS3.

Harmonix is the publisher. Mad Catz is the distributor and doesn't have any rights to the franchise.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

A quick google suggests they "co-published"

Though I did find a story that completely slipped me by in the process. Harmonix have another co publisher and sounds like there will be another update/new instruments in autumns.

How come it flopped?

Because it isn't appealing to the pothead audience anymore.

Those are good sales for many IPs, new or old. Your expectations are unrealisitc.

Still not a big seller? There are only a handful of games released every year that sell more than 7 million copies. That likely puts it as a top 200-300 in the highest selling video games of all time. That's higher than any Metal Gear Solid game,  or Uncharted game has ever sold.

I think you're putting the "big seller" bar a little too high.
