You just described every gta ever. Don't let nostalgia cloud your judgement. Gta V was awesome |
No. I recall a greater mission variety in ps2 era GTAs.

Same here. While i get the purpose of online gameplay and it can be fun. I much prefer a single player experience. |
Rockstar know the reason the games sell so well in the first place is the singleplayer aspect so that's going nowhere. Just expect more integration with online from the singleplayer world. Think Watch_Dogs as an example of how that may be implemeneted.
Monstrous. Consoles need GTAVI during a peak year to really see some fireworks.
To me the most amazing thing is, its selling at near to launch price.
It must be number 1 game of all time for revenue
I'm happy in the sense that it is great to see this medium being so popular and I've also been a big fan of the series since I was young but...I'm also kinda worried because I didn't really enjoy this game that much and if it is the biggest seller in the series then I guess this one will be their model for future GTAs.

The ps2 games were good then but hard to playthrough now. They all basically follow the same formula.

GTA still has to surpass CoD before it can surpass Pokemon. GTA's last reported series tally is 235m, while CoD's is 250m. Pokemon sits at 279m currently.
Regardless, pretty crazy numbers for a single game.

It's the reverse for me: GTA 5 is dull compared to San Andreas. The missions in SA were varied: some involved piloting RC planes or RC helicopters, another one involved burning down a weed field, one was a tower defense type of ordeal and a mission that involved robbing a house. Also, there was the RPG elements in the game like muscle and fat as well as the turf war stuff. GTA 5 had loads of fetch quests and even one mission that is completed solely by buying a mask. That's all there was to it. Mission designers must have been asleep implementing that one.

Don't forget that gta V has a ton of online missions plus heists that San andreas doesn't. Plus a lot of fun online modes to do with friends.
