Forums - Gaming Discussion - In the last 3 months GTA V sold 5m copies, 65m Total already.

In my opinion, the number itself is monstrous but when you think that game is on PS3, PS4, XBOX360, XBONE and PC the number isn't as much impressive as some treat it to be! For instance the fact that the 35m of the 65m is on XBOX360 and PS3 , is more impressive for me!

Some additional facts for you guys.

1.
The PS3 & 360 versions sold over 35 million alone.

This means the PS4, XB1 & PC versions are now approaching 30 million unit sales which is insane.

2.
Take Two is the number 1 publisher on the PS2 on PS4 store with 3 games in the top 5 most downloaded PS2 games on PS4. (The GTA games are obviously popular)

How much of 30m sales come from pc version? I would guess fairly more than ps4? or not?

Wow, that's crazy! Most games dream of selling 5m. Even Halo 5 which is Xbox's biggest exclusive probably won't manage 5m in its first year.

Take Two have updated their official series sell in number for Grand Theft Auto V to 240 million including 65 million from GTA V.

The next best selling game (excluding re-releases) is GTA IV with over 32 million units sold in.

No way is PC more than PS4. Steamspy has it at 4.37 million, and if we are being extremely generous, it sold another 3 million outside of Steam (which is ridiculously high and the real figure is probably nowhere near this). That leaves PC at a very respectable 7.37 million, but still substantially behind PS4.

You just described every gta ever.  Don't let nostalgia cloud your judgement.  Gta V was awesome

No. I recall a greater mission variety in ps2 era GTAs.

Yeah, we totally loved the RC copter in VC... All the GTA's had bad escort missions. GTA 3 starts with one, lol.

Gta as a series is not for you anymore.  It's going to go even further down this route and I absolutely love it.  Love the campaign missions,  the story,  the cutscenes,  the online missions,  heists,  races.  Everything about it.  And judging by the sales so did most.

You're in the minority and sadly as I said the series is no longer for you. It sucks because you're obviously a big fan but hey at least you can go back and replay the old ones over and over.  Even though they control like shit and the graphics are mad basic

Are you referring to the ps1 GTAs here? The ps2 GTAs controlled fine and the graphics are certainly outdated but thankfully, you don't need good graphics to have a good game.

you'll probably still have fun because nostalgia is a powerful thing.

Please don't dismiss my preference for ps2 GTAs as mere nostalgia. If there's anyone who knows why I prefer the ps2 GTAs over the newer ones, it's me. I can play San Andreas and GTA 5 side-by-side and tell you why I find the gameplay in SA much more compelling and creative.

They control horribly by today's standards.  The shooting is so bad too on some of them.  Gta V is very easy to control.  And as the poster said all gta have lots of escort missions and some very bad ones.  That RC helicopter mission was a fucking pain in the ass.  As we're some others.

I liked the RC missions. They added to the diversity of missions in the game.

I don't recall a single instant where I struggled with the controls. I guess I'm the sort of person who goes "gotta get good at these new controls" rather than "ugh! these controls are so bad!"

I'd much rather these things than the bore of the current GTAs. The ps2 GTAs had varied and challenging missions, current GTAs are way too cutscene heavy, dialogue heavy, and fetch heavy for my taste.

Yeah gta will beat pokemon no problem.

But these sales are crazy. It's an immortal beast. Gta V should sell 80m easy. Possibly 100m considering it will sell for years on X1, ps4 and pc and will probably get a PS5 release too.

Nintendo really needs to get a GTA V/VI port on the NX, the demand for this game in the West is clear.

Its also selling well in Japan and has already sold over 1 million units there, so not just the West :P
