I know you said worst case scenario but Gamecube levels sales will be blown out of the water next year.

They sold over 10 million in 9 months and shipments will be about 3/4 of GC lifetime shipments in just over a year.

It would literally need to be discontinued next year in order to sell GC levels.

Stupid prediction. Once again Nintendo is being underestimated.

Nintendo is going to destroy the current paradigm. Nintendo is the one who everyone is looking at to rejuvenate the gaming insdustry.

Nobody expects Sony to do anything noteworthy because they're shit.

The gaming industry belongs to Nintendo plus the cream of 3rd parties. Sony's days are numbered.

I think it is still too early to predict these big numbers. I am still a bit unconvinced that this momentum can continue at this price. In addition, Nintendo's 2018 lineup (which I assume will partially be revealed in January) will also play a key role in how the system performs in 2018 (it would be great if they can release a key first-party game every month like they did in 2017; with maybe 2 new big hitters and perhaps 1-2 evergreen Wii U ports; although Nintendo has not been immune to droughts which is why I will have reservations until the line up is announced). 2017 was a fantastic year for Nintendo and Switch, but a console's life cycle is a marathon, and so keeping momentum is going to be important. For me two major milestones I will be looking at is how quickly it can surpass GameCube and how quickly it will reach (again should it reach this number) 30 million units.

The gaming industry is as popular as it currently is because of Sony. Its the worlds most trusted brand for offerings from all parties. Also, if it hasnt been evident this gen (or even this year), Sony and Nintendo are the last brands that truly hold up the standard for quality single player games. They do it in their own way and that makes them special.

I need to revise my number however, as the initial 60 mil is too easy.  I will say 100 mil or more and leave it at that.  I feel a BC Switch 2 will release in 2022 earliest and 2023 latest, which will slow sales after that point.
