Does anyone know why Cryengine games seem to have so much trouble with consoles?

I think it depends on developer - just today DF did an article on Everybody's Gone to Rapture, gorgeous looking PS4 exclusive done in CryEngine 3 that was ported to PC...by no one other them Sony themselves (fact that deserves thread of its own I guess).

obviously a bad port. Even then it's questionable why the developers thought it was a good idea to have it run at 1080p.

lol

I don't know why they are porting these kinds of games from a more powerful machine (PC), when there are other genres like Tbs that would run on ps4 and sell well without frame rate issues being relevant!!

This game (on pc) almost runs the same on 2 CPU cores, as ones 12 threads (6 cores).

Its because its not multi threaded well.

What happend when you have 8 semi weak cpu cores? and the game only uses like 2 of them for much of anything?

Yeah, games dependent on performance per core/per thread tend not to fare well on current gen consoles with their slow CPUs. Oddworld New 'n' Tasty for example had erratic performance on PS4 and Xbox One because the version of Unity it was built on hinged on single core CPU performance, meaning even a Core i3 could provide a locked 60fps with ease but consoles hovered between in the 40s.

Yeah, Unity was killing even high end CPUs in Kerbal Space Program when you have ships/stations with thousands of parts...much better now with Unity 5.

It would probably made devs much happier if Sony went with 3.2GHz quad-core CPU instead of 8-core 1.6GHz for PS4, but they for opted low TDP and $400 launch price.

Because this generation some gamers have this elitist mentality that anything below 1080p is unplayable. So I feel some developers feel pressured their products need to be 1080p or they will be doomed.

I dont think the resolution is why it runs so bad.

It has to do with the cpu cores. The game just isnt well optimised for 8cores, so too much cpu performance is left on the ground.

Ofcourse hopefully most people will understand this has NOTHING to do with the ps4 but everything with a bad development seriously, if uncharted 4 can be solid 30 fps if ratchet and clank can be solid 30fps.
Than this game shoupd be 60fps rock solid >.>

It runs like shit both on PS4 and XOne. It's really more about how the hell MS and Sony gave certificates for this.
